Police News Release - July 7th, 2025

Sexual Assault

On July 5th at 4:11PM Brandon Police Service (BPS) received a report from Brandon Regional Health Centre (BRHC) of a sexual assault. BPS members attended and a statement was taken from a 19-year-old female. The 28-year-old male suspect was located the following morning on July 6th at 9:00AM and was arrested. The male was later released on an Undertaking with a court date of September 15th, 2025.

 

Assault with a Weapon

On July 6th at 3:38PM security at Brandon Shoppers Mall reported an intoxicated male igniting a spray can and pointing it towards people. BPS members located and arrested the accused in the 1200 block of 18th Street. The 26-year-old male was held in BPS detention cells for court in the morning.

 

IPDA

On July 6th at 8:26PM a call came into BPS reporting a female lying on the ground in a yard within the 800 block of Louise Avenue. Police attended and located the highly intoxicated female. With no one to turn her over to she was held in BPS detention cells until sober.

 

IPDA & Ticket

On July 6th at 8:28PM a call of a highly intoxicated female lying in the grass in the back lane of 26th Street North came in to police. The 20-year-old female was located by police. She was in possession of an open bottle of alcohol. The female was held in BPS detention cells until sober.  Issued ticket for open liquor.

 

Arrest Warrant

On July 5th a call came into police reporting a male who was in the 200 block of Princess Avenue causing issues for his ex-girlfriend. The 36-year-old male had assaulted his ex, a 29-year-old female. He also damaged a vehicle excessively with a golf club then snapped the club in half. The male was breaching his Release Order x6 by various forms of contact, curfew and carrying a weapon.  Upon police arrival the residence was cleared by police and it was found that the male had fled prior to police arrival. An Arrest Warrant was requested for the male - arrestable for Failure to Comply Release Order x6, Assault, and Mischief Under $5000.

On July 6th at 10:21PM the male was noted going into the same residence in the 200 block of Princess Avenue. Police attended and found the man hiding with a kitchen knife. The male was arrested and held in BPS custody to attend court in the morning on July 7th, 2025.

 

Structure Fire

On July 7th at 3:33AM 911 advised of a shed on fire in the 000 block of Lorne Avenue East. The residence as well as the neighboring residence was evacuated for safety reasons. No injuries were sustained. The fire was put out by Brandon Fire & Emergency Services. Damage consisted of a total loss of the shed, damage to the back of the house, as well as to the side of a neighboring residence. The incident remains under investigation.
