IPDA (Intoxicated Persons Detention Act)
On July 3rd at 10:44PM Brandon Police Service (BPS) received a call of an intoxicated male in Princess Park. Police attended and a 45-year-old male was arrested. He was held in BPS detention cells and will be released once sober.
Assault with a Weapon / Uttering Threats /Resist Arrest / Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration
On July 4th at 12:26AM police attended a residence due to a 46-year-old male father on top of the 52-year-old mother armed with a knife and threatening to kill her. He voiced that he had a firearm in his vehicle as well. The male fled prior to police arrival.
At 2:16AM police located the male’s vehicle outside of a hotel in the 200 block of 18th Street North. The male was arrested upon exiting a hotel room. The vehicle was towed and a consent to search was obtained. No weapons were located. During the arrest a female prostitute was encountered within the hotel room that the accused had picked up prior for the purpose of sexual service. The male was held at BPS in detention cells and will attend court in the morning on July 4th, 2025.
Failure to Comply Probation Order / Possession of a Weapon
On July 3rd at 9:46AM a call of a male with a cut to his forearm came in to police. Upon attending the 31-year-old male ran from police when approached but was stopped at 8th Street & Victoria Avenue. He was found to have a kitchen knife in his possession. He said he cut his arm when opening a package. The male was on conditions not to possess any weapons. EMS attended and the male was transported to Brandon Regional Health Centre. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date of September 8th, 2025.
Arrest Warrant
On July 3rd at 11:10AM police attended the Court House and arrested a 48-year-old male who had a Warrant for Arrest due to missing his court date. (Charges: Failure to Comply Probation X2 / Failure to Comply with Condition of Appearance Notice). He was arrested, held at BPS detention cells to attend court in the morning.
Breach of the Peace
On July 3rd at 1:57PM police were called to a disturbance occurring at a business in the 900 block of 18th Street. A 51-year-old male was acting aggressively toward staff, circling the building, and harassing customers. The male was arrested by police and held in BPS detention cells to prevent further issues.
Arrest Warrant
On July 3rd at 2:09PM police attended a residence in the 1500 block of Lorne Avenue and arrested an 18-year-old male on the strength of his Unendorsed Warrant for Arrest. (Assault with a Weapon / Robbery with Violence). The male was arrested, held in BPS detention cells, and will attend court in the morning.
