Arrest Warrants
In the past 24 hours six individuals were arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest.
IPDA (Intoxicated Persons Detention Act) / Breach of the Peace
In the past 24 hours, five individuals were taken into custody under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act or Breach of the Peace due to their level of intoxication – this ensured both public safety and the individuals’ personal well-being.
Pointing a Firearm / Failure to Comply Probation / Possession of a Weapon
On July 23rd at 8:50PM a First Nations Safety Officer reported that a male suspect pulled a pellet gun on them when they told him to leave the hotel property. The individual did however leave without incident and was followed until BPS officers arrived and intercepted. The 34-year-old male was found to be in possession of a pellet pistol as well as a wooden baton. The male is currently on probation with a condition not to possess or carry any weapons. He was arrested, held in BPS detention cells and will attend court in the morning on July 24th, 2025.
Failure to Comply Release Order x4 / Public Mischief / Resist Arrest / Possession of Meth for Purpose of Trafficking
On July 24, 2025, at approximately 3:08 AM, a Brandon Police Service officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a cyclist observed riding against traffic in the 600 block of Richmond Avenue. The individual initially fled but was eventually stopped by police.
The female cyclist refused to provide identification for the Highway Traffic Act offence and was subsequently arrested. A search conducted following the arrest resulted in the seizure of approximately 5.5 grams of methamphetamine, divided into four separate packages, along with a digital scale.
The individual initially provided a false identity but was later properly identified. Further investigation revealed she was subject to a Release Order and was in breach of multiple conditions. (Curfew, alcohol, illegal drugs, and residency.)
She was held in custody at the BPS detention facility and is scheduled to appear in court on the morning of July 24, 2025.
Structure Fire
On July 23, 2025, at approximately 11:26 AM, BPS was notified by 911 of a structure fire in the 1400 block of 8th Street.
Preliminary information indicated that the residence had been unoccupied since May. Evidence at the scene suggests the door may have been forcibly entered and that individuals had been squatting in the home.
Brandon Fire and Emergency Services deemed the fire to be suspicious in nature. Members of BPS Identification Unit and the Major Crime Section attended to assist with the investigation, which remains ongoing.
