Police News Release - July 21st, 2025

IPDA (Intoxicated Persons Detention Act) / Breach of the Peace

In the past 24 hours three individuals were arrest for IPDA as well as two individuals for Breach of the Peace. They will be released in the morning once sober.

 

Assault / Assault by Choking / Failure to Comply Release Order

On July 18th a 24-year-old male assaulted a 22-year-old female by punching and choking her while at a residence in Westaway Bay. On July 20th at 8:48PM, the male was located and arrested by Police in the 600 block of Princess Avenue. The male had not been residing at the residence as directed by his Release Order. He was held in BPS detention cells and will attend court in the morning.

 

Immediate Roadside Prohibition

On July 20th at 9:50PM a vehicle was stopped in the 600 block of Princess Avenue. Upon breath sample, the driver was charged accordingly. The vehicle was towed, and a three-day impoundment, along with a three-day driver's licence suspension, was enforced.

 

Assault

On July 21st at approximately 1:12 a.m., Police received a report of an assault in the 1600 block of 18th Street involving a 26-year-old male and a 21-year-old female. The individuals were previously in a relationship and known to one another. Officers attended the scene and arrested the intoxicated male. He was held in BPS detention cells and will be released once sober via Undertaking with a court date of September 29th, 2025.  

Arrest Warrants

In the past 24 hours, four individuals were arrested pursuant to outstanding warrants. Two of the individuals were held in detention and are scheduled to appear in court the following morning. The remaining two were released on Appearance Notices, with court dates set for August 25, 2025.
