Police News Release - January 7th, 2026

Arrest Warrants / New Charges

On January 7th, at approximately 4:05 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of Van Horne Avenue with a vehicle connected to a theft that occurred earlier in the evening at a store in Corral Centre. (The value of the stolen goods was approximately $130). A 43-year-old female, who was operating the vehicle, was identified as the individual responsible for the theft. Further investigation revealed that she was disqualified from driving and had three outstanding warrants for her arrest. The female was arrested and transported to the Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells. She is scheduled to attend court in the morning on January 7, 2026.

 

Assault

On January 6th, at approximately 11:07 a.m., police were called to a parking lot near Victoria Avenue and 8th Street in response to a report of a domestic incident in progress. The caller reported that a male was “beating up” a female inside a vehicle. Officers attended the scene, and a 36-year-old male was arrested in connection with the incident. He was later released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on February 9, 2026.

 

Breach of the Peace

On January 6, at approximately 11:23 a.m., police responded to a disturbance in the 1200 block of 20th Street involving an intoxicated 52-year-old female who was acting violently. Police assistance was requested to have her removed from the residence. Officers attended and the female was removed from the location and transported to BPS detention cells, where she will be released once sober.

 

Immediate Roadside Prohibition

On January 6th, at approximately 1:54 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle collision in the Brandon Shoppers Mall parking lot. A vehicle driven by a 59-year-old male had rear-ended another vehicle operated by a 16-year-old male. The 59-year-old male stated he would report the collision later and requested cash from the 16-year-old driver following the collision. Upon police arrival, the 59-year-old male exhibited signs of impairment and smelled of alcohol. An Approved Screening Device was administered, and the male registered fails. An Immediate Roadside Prohibition was issued, and the 59-year-old male’s vehicle was towed and will be seized for a period of 30 days.
