Police News Release - January 5th, 2026

Arrest Warrant
On January 4 at approximately 9:11 p.m., police arrested an 18-year-old male in the area of Cater Drive and Kirkaldy. The male was arrested on the strength of an outstanding Warrant for Arrest (Fraud Under $5,000). Due to his level of intoxication, he was held in Brandon Police Service (BPS) cells and will be released once sober. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 10, 2026, in Winnipeg.
Breach of the Peace
On January 4th at approximately 10:45 p.m., BPS members responded to a disturbance call in the 3500 block of Willowdale Crescent. The complainant requested the removal of a 43-year-old male who was highly intoxicated and causing a disturbance. Due to the male’s level of intoxication and the absence of an alternative address or responsible party, he was transported to BPS detention cells to be released once sober.
Arson
On January 4 at approximately 10:45 a.m., a neighbour contacted authorities to report a fire at an abandoned residence in the 1100 block of 6th Street. The fire was deemed suspicious and remains under investigation.
Utter Threats / Possession of a Weapon
On January 3rd, it was reported that while a male was clearing snow at a residence on Frederick Street, a neighbour exited their residence, threatened him with a knife, and uttered threats. A statement was obtained, and a 43-year-old male was arrested and charged accordingly. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date of March 16, 2026.
Arrest Warrants
In the past 24 hours, two additional warrants were executed. One warrant was executed at the request of the RCMP, with a BPS member attending Brandon Correctional Centre (BCC) to obtain a DNA blood sample from a 38-year-old male. The second involved the execution of an endorsed Warrant of Arrest on a 38-year-old male who was also
