Traffic stop leads to Weapons charges
On Friday afternoon, January 2nd, Police conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of 7th St. during which the operator of the vehicle was found to be in possession of a knife and brass knuckles. He was released on an Appearance Notice with a scheduled Court date of March 5th, to answer to the charges of Possession of a Weapon for a dangerous purpose and Carry a Concealed Weapon.
K9 track locates B&E suspect
On Friday evening around 7pm Police received a report of a Break and Enter to a residence in the 1400 block of 1st St. The suspect, who was known to Police, fled prior to Police arrival, but it was discovered that he was on a 24hr curfew and a condition not to attend the City of Brandon. At approximately 11:30pm another call was received indicating that the suspect was outside a residence on Cornell Bay. The Police Service Dog Unit was deployed and with the assistance of a drone, the suspect was successfully apprehended in the 300 block of Aberdeen Ave. and found to be in possession of a small axe. The 36year-old male will appear in Court today after being charged for several offences including but not limited to, Break and Enter, Uttering Threats, Resist Arrest, and Possession of a Weapon for a dangerous purpose.

In the last 24 hours 1 person was held at BPS as result of a disturbance call and due to the subject’s level of intoxication.
Intoxicated Persons Detention Act
In the last 24 hours 1 person was held at BPS due to their level of intoxication and having no responsible person to turn them over to.
