Police News Release - January 15th, 2026

Traffic Stop Leads to Charges
On January 14th at 10:29 a.m. a traffic stop in the 2700 block of Richmond Avenue resulted in three individuals receiving charges/tickets. Investigation led to locating 4.8 grams of cocaine, liquor containers, and drug paraphernalia. All individuals were arrested and held for processing.
A 21-year-old male was held for court and received charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine) and Breach of Release Order (No contact). He will attend court January 15th, 2026.
A 34-year-old female was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine) and later released with a future court date of March 12th, 2026.
A 44-year-old male was given a ticket under the LGCCA. Released.
Breach of Probations
In the past 24 hours, two individuals were arrested in separate incidents for breaches of probation. The first involved a 23-year-old male who breached a no-contact condition; he was released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of March 9th, 2026. The second incident involved a 14-year-old male youth who breached a 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. curfew; he was charged and released with a court date of March 24th, 2026.
Immediate Roadside Prohibition
On January 14th at 4:46 p.m., BPS received information regarding two suspected impaired drivers, one operating a vehicle with Manitoba plates and the other with Ontario plates. One of the vehicles had collided with a snowbank in the area of 50th Street and Victoria Avenue. Both drivers were located and displayed visible signs of impairment. They were arrested, and vehicles were seized.
The drivers, both Ontario residents, were held in BPS detention cells until sober and their identities were confirmed. A 38-year-old male was charged with Refusal, and a 34-year-old male received an Immediate Roadside Prohibition.
IPDA (Intoxicated Persons Detention Act)
On January 14th at 10:08 p.m., police received reports of an intoxicated female in the 100 block of 16th Street, walking without shoes. The female was located and determined to be unable to care for herself. She was taken to the BPS detention unit to be released once sober.
Assault / Assault with a Weapon
On January 14th at 5:40 p.m. police were informed a woman had been assaulted at a residential bay off Pacific Avenue. A 25-year-old male was arrested and later released via Undertaking with a court date of March 26th, 2026.
Theft Under $5000
On January 14th at 5:40 p.m., while attending an unrelated call, police located a 20-year-old male who was wanted in relation to a previous theft from a store in the 3400 block of Victoria Avenue, involving merchandise valued at approximately $50. The male was arrested and later released on an Appearance Notice with a future court date.
