Police News Release - August 29th, 2025

Arrest Warrants

In the past 24 hours four individuals were arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest. Three were held in BPS detention cells for court in the morning while the fourth was held in BPS detention cells to be released once sober on an Appearance Notice.

 

Breach of the Peace / IPDA (Intoxicated Persons Detention Act)

In the past 24 hours five individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace alongside five individuals arrested for IPDA. They will be released in the morning once sober/calm.

 

Church Shed Broken Into – Lawn Mower Stolen

On August 28th it was reported that sometime between 8:00 AM August 27th and 6:00 PM August 28th, someone broke into a shed on church property in the 3300 block of Park Avenue and stole a lawn mower. Failure to Comply Release Order x4 with Weapons Charges

On August 28th at approximately 9:27 a.m., members of the Brandon Police Service responded to a report of a disturbance on Willowdale Crescent, where it was stated ongoing fighting had been heard throughout the night.

Upon arrival, officers arrested a 21-year-old male who was found to have an outstanding Unendorsed Warrant for Arrest. He was held in BPS detention cells to appear in court that morning.

A second individual, a 25-year-old male, was also taken into custody. He faces multiple charges including:

  • Failure to Comply with Release Order (x4)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of Firearm Ammunition

The 25-year-old was transported to the Brandon Correctional Centre for remand and will appear in court in the morning.

 

Failure to Comply Sentence Order

On August 28th police were tipped of a possible impaired driver. The vehicle was located and stopped in the 1500 block of McGregor Avenue. The 40-year-old male driver was not impaired but found to be in contravention of three conditions of his Conditional Sentence Order. He was arrested, held in BPS detention cells and will attend court in the morning on August 29th, 2025.

 

Unlawfully in a Dwelling / Mischief Over $5000 – Damage to Property

On August 28th at approximately 12:55 p.m., Brandon Police Service received a report of a possible break and enter at a boarded-up residence in the 1500 block of 3rd Street. The property has been the site of repeated break-ins, and at the time of the call, an access hatch on the roof was observed to be open.

Upon entering the residence, officers located three individuals inside: a 30-year-old female, a 32-year-old male, and a 28-year-old male. The interior of the home had sustained significant damage, including collapsed drywall, multiple large holes caused by individuals falling through the attic, and insulation scattered throughout the premises.

All three individuals were arrested and charged:

  • The 30-year-old female and 32-year-old male were held in BPS detention cells and scheduled to appear in court the following morning on August 29th, 2025.
  • The 28-year-old male was released on an Undertaking with a court date set for November 6th, 2025.
