Stolen Vehicle Located; Female Charged

On August 27th, police located a previously reported stolen vehicle in the parking lot of a hotel in the 800 block of Pacific Avenue. Video surveillance from the area assisted in identifying a suspect in possession of the vehicle.

A short time later, officers located the suspect behind the hotel. The vehicle was towed for forensic examination and processing, after which it was returned to its rightful owner.

A 24-year-old female was arrested and charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 in connection with the incident. She was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear in court on November 6th, 2025.

In the past 24 hours three (3) individuals were arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest. One individual was also charged with Resist Arrest and Possession of Methamphetamine (.5 gram). Assault

On August 27th at 5:31 PM, police responded to a report of an assault in the 1200 block of 10th Street. Upon arrival, officers located a 41-year-old male who was said to have been drifting in and out of consciousness. Three bystanders were on scene attempting to assist the individual but reported that they did not witness the incident. The victim was transported to hospital by EMS for further treatment. The male has declined to provide a statement or disclose any details about the incident. He was provided with contact information for BPS officers and advised to reach out should he wish to make a statement. He was left in the care of hospital staff.

IRP (Immediate Roadside Prohibition)

On August 27th at 6:15 PM, police located and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with Manitoba license plates that had been flagged in a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) alert issued by the RCMP. The vehicle was observed swerving between lanes and was stopped in the 1400 block of 1st Street North on suspicion of impaired driving. The 45-year-old male driver failed roadside sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. The vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days, and the driver received a 90-day license suspension.

Assault with Additional Charges

On August 25th at approximately 2:05 AM, police responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Willowdale Crescent. Initial information suggested no criminal activity had occurred, and parties had dispersed without further issue. The building manager attended, and no disclosures were made at that time.

Later that morning, at 10:25 AM, a male attended the Brandon Police Service and reported that he had, in fact, been assaulted during the earlier incident. He advised that suspects had entered his apartment, attempted to strike him with a wine bottle, and physically assaulted him by punching him in the face and torso. The assault allegedly continued outside the apartment, during which one of the suspects used a fork as a weapon. Police later recovered the fork.

During the altercation, the victim’s phone—which also contained his identification—fell to the ground and was taken by the suspects. Later that day, the stolen phone was left at the residence of the victim’s sister, where the suspects entered without permission.

Surveillance footage was obtained, and the two primary suspects were identified and contacted. They later attended voluntarily, where they were arrested without incident.

A 22-year-old male has been charged with: Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Break and Enter and Commit Assault, Robbery with Violence and Unlawfully in a Dwelling.

A 26-year-old male has been charged with the same offences.

Both individuals were released on Undertakings with conditions. Their next court appearance is scheduled for October 30, 2025.

Aggravated Assault / Mischief Under $5000

On August 27th at approximately 8:55 PM, an officer who was already in Cornell Bay was approached by a male reporting that he had been stabbed. The victim stated he had gone to a residence—where he had previously been evicted—to retrieve his belongings, accompanied by a male and a female friend. An argument reportedly broke out between the victim’s male friend and a male occupant of the residence. When the victim attempted to intervene, he was stabbed in the upper chest. His injuries were non-life-threatening.

As the group attempted to leave the scene in a taxi, the suspect allegedly used the knife to scratch the vehicle’s door. During the incident, the suspect also sustained a significant injury to his own hand, requiring hospital treatment and follow-up surgery scheduled in Winnipeg later in the week.

The 19-year-old male suspect was taken into custody and held for a court appearance on the morning of August 28th, 2025.
