Police News Release - August 25th, 2025

Breach of the Peace
On August 24th at 8:33AM police were called to the 400 block of 12th Street where staff of a youth program required assistance. A 26-year-old female had been causing a disruption for several days and upon being banned, refused to leave. The female was arrested, held in BPS detention cells to be released once sober.
Arrest Warrant
On August 24th at 3:39PM police located a 31-year-old male in the 1500 block of 1st St North who had a Warrant for his Arrest (Breach of Probation x2). The male was arrested and later released via Appearance Notice with a court date of September 15th, 2025.
Seven Firearm Charges & Possession
On August 24th at 11:27 AM, officers conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of 12th Street. Open liquor was observed inside the vehicle, and the driver was taken into custody. During a search of the vehicle, a .22 caliber revolver was found. The male driver did not possess a valid firearms license.
Upon being searched incident to arrest, the individual was found to have both spent and live rounds in his pocket, as well as a knife concealed in his boot. Additionally, he was in possession of two baggies containing mushrooms.
The male was arrested and lodged in BPS detention cells to appear in court in the morning.
Parole Revocation Warrant
On August 24th at 6:18PM a 38-year-old male attended BPS advising that there would be a Warrant for Arrest for him. This was confirmed and the Warrant was executed. (Charge: Parole violation warrant – Fail to Report; Parole Revocation). The male was transported to Brandon Correctional Centre.
Convenient Store Visit Leads to Charges
On August 24th at approximately 7:00 PM, three males entered a business located in the 800 block of 1st Street. They were shortly followed by another group of three males. During the encounter, one individual from the second group produced a canister of bear spray and discharged it toward the first group. In response, a second male retrieved a concealed machete from his backpack and began chasing the individual with the bear spray through the store. Both groups fled the scene prior to police arrival.
At 8:12 PM, officers responding to an unrelated call in the 1300 block of 8th Street encountered two males who had been involved in the earlier incident — identified as victims of the bear spray. One of the individuals, a 14-year-old male, was positively identified through video surveillance as the person who brandished the machete. He was arrested and subsequently released on an Undertaking with a court date set for November 4th, 2025.
Later, at 10:11 PM, officers conducted a person check near the intersection of 2nd Street and College Avenue. An 18-year-old male was identified from surveillance footage as the individual who discharged the bear spray. During the interaction, the male provided a new residential address; however, he was found to be bound by a Release Order requiring him to reside at a different, specified location.
He was arrested and held in BPS custody. He is scheduled to appear in court in the morning facing charges of Assault with a Weapon and Failure to Comply with a Release Order.
Breach of the Peace
In the evening shift two (2) additional individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace. They were held in BPS detention cells to be released once sober.
Possession (Methamphetamine)
On August 24th at approximately 11:37PM a vehicle stop was conducted in the 3600 block of Rosser Avenue. There was an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. A subsequent search recovered a container from the center console, that contained approximately 1.3 grams of methamphetamine.
A 29-year-old female claimed possession of the drugs. Due to her intoxication level, she was held in custody. Once sober she will be released via Undertaking with a court date of November 13th, 2025.
The 35-year-old male operator of the vehicle was issued a Highway Traffic Act ticket for Disobeying Traffic Control Device (Stop sign), and a LGCCA ticket for unlawful transport of liquor in a motor vehicle.
