Police News Release - August 22, 2025

Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted Firearm in a Motor Vehicle

On August 21st at approximately 4:30 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of 18th Street North. Two loaded pistols were located in the vehicle. As a result of the investigation, two individuals from out of province —a 19-year-old male and a 23-year-old male—were arrested, charged, and held in custody pending a court appearance. Third and fourth individuals from Winnipeg, an 18-year-old male and a 23-year-old male, were also arrested and subsequently released on an Undertaking both with court dates of November 13th

All four individuals are receiving numerous firearms charges.

The driver, 23-year-old male from Calgary, did not have valid driver’s licence and was found to be wanted on both a Calgary Police and Regina Police Warrant for Arrest.

The vehicle was towed.

 

Arrest Warrants

In the past 24 hours four (4) Arrest Warrants were executed.

 

Breach of the Peace

In the past 24 hours four (4) incidents took place that resulted in individuals being arrested and held in BPS detention cells for Breach of the Peace.  Release will occur once calmed down/sober.

 

Assault

On June 6th a 15-year-old youth punched another youth in the face at the fairgrounds.  On August 21st at 9:05PM the youth was arrested at his residence. He was later released via Undertaking with a court date of October 28th, 2025.

 

Structure Fire

On August 22nd at 3:06AM BPS and Brandon Fire & Emergency Services responded to a structure fire in the 1100 block of Pacific Avenue. No further details available at this time as the investigation remains ongoing and is noted as possibly suspicious in nature.  

 

Assaults

On August 21st at approximately 7:41 AM, members of the Brandon Police Service responded to a report of a disturbance in the 800 block of Frederick Street. Upon arrival, officers determined that an altercation had taken place between two siblings—a 25-year-old male and an 18-year-old female. As a result of the investigation, the male was charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm, while the female was charged with Assault. Both were released on an Undertaking with a court date set for November 6, 2025.

During the same incident, a 21-year-old male became involved and allegedly struck the 25-year-old male on the shoulder with a glass bottle. He was subsequently charged with Assault with a Weapon and released on an Undertaking. His court appearance is scheduled for November 13, 2025.

 

Theft Under $5000

On August 21st at approximately 1:45 PM, police received a report from a business located in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue regarding a female suspect who had allegedly stolen clothing and flowers before fleeing the scene on foot. Officers located the individual nearby.

Investigation revealed that the 22-year-old woman was bound by a Probation Order prohibiting her from attending the store in question. She was arrested and charged accordingly. The accused was later released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court appearance set for November 3, 2025.
