For The Past 24 Hours:
Arrest Warrant:
On Sunday morning, Winnipeg Police Service advised that they had arrested a 35 year-old male on the strength of a warrant for arrest held by BPS for theft of vehicle and flight from police. The accused was held in custody at their point and was to appear before the court on Sunday.
Failing to Comply:
During a theft investigation, police attended to a residence in the 3700 block Victoria Avenue and, while there, located an 18 year-old male known to police. A records query returned that he was the subject of an undertaking with a condition that he have no contact or communication with a named female, who was also present. The male was arrested, processed, and released with a court date of June 4th.
Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrests:
At around 5:55 PM Sunday, a traffic stop was conducted at 11th Street & Victoria Avenue. It was determined that the male driver gave a false name and he was arrested for public mischief. A subsequent search located a quantity of methamphetamine that is consistent with trafficking amounts. Two males, 29 and 26 years of age, were arrested for possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking. The 26 year-old also faces a charge of public mischief for giving the false name. Both were held in custody and will be released on police-imposed conditions. They are scheduled to appear in court on July 9th.
Impaired Drivers:
There were four impaired drivers processed over the last 24 hours: all qualified for the Immediate Roadside Prohibition.
At around 4:37 PM Sunday, a 59 year-old male was stopped in the Canad Inn parking lot and was determined to be impaired.
There was a two vehicle collision in the area of Hazelwood Cres. & Garwood Drive reported at 7:22 PM Sunday. One of the drivers, a 55 year-old female, was found to be impaired.
A traffic stop in the 100 block Percy Street at 10:05 PM Sunday located an impaired 26 year-old female operator.
At 12:20 AM this morning, a traffic stop in the 400 block 25th Street resulted in the 21 year-old male driver receiving a 90 day driving suspension and a 30 day vehicle impoundment.
Assault:
A 40 year-old male was arrested and held in custody to appear before the court today after his ex-partner reported that he had assaulted her. The accused is currently bound by a Release Order with an included condition that he have no contact or communication with the victim. He is facing one count of assault, and one count of failing to comply with the condition of the Release Order.
Others:
Three individuals were brought into custody from separate incidents, as they were intoxicated by drug and or alcohol and causing problems. Once sober, they will be released without charges.
