Protective Detention & Care of Intoxicated Persons Act (PDCIPA)
In the past 24 hours three individuals from separate incidents were arrested due to intoxication levels. They were held in Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells to be released once sober.
Arrest Warrants
In the past 24 hours five individuals were arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest. All five were later released with future court dates.
Breach of the Peace
In the past 24 hours three individuals from separate incidents were arrested due to Breach of the Peace. They were each brought to BPS detention cells to prevent the continuation of behaviour and will be released once sober/calm.
Assault
On April 28th at 7:57 p.m., police received a report of an assault at the skate park in the 900 block of Princess Avenue. A 14-year-old male victim had been assaulted by another male youth who had arrived in a vehicle, exited, and assaulted him by punching and kicking him multiple times before leaving the scene. The victim declined medical attention. Through investigation, police identified the suspect as a 16-year-old male Brandon resident. He and a parent were contacted, and he turned himself in to Brandon Police Service. The suspect was charged and released on an Undertaking with conditions. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 20th, 2026.
Failure to Comply Release Order
On April 29th at 4:35 a.m., police attended a motor vehicle collision in which a vehicle had struck a tree. The vehicle was located, and the driver provided a breath sample into an Approved Screening Device (ASD), registering a result of zero.
A passenger, a 37-year-old male, was found to be bound by a Release Order with a curfew condition, which he was breaching at the time. He was arrested and held in BPS detention cells to appear in court in the morning.
Theft Under $5000
On April 22nd, police received a report of a theft that had occurred the previous day on April 21st at a store in the 900 block of 18th Street North. The value of the stolen merchandise was reported to be $61.95. Surveillance footage was reviewed, and police identified the 42-year-old male suspect from prior interactions. On April 28th at 3:40 p.m., police located the male suspect in the 700 block of 1st Street and arrested him. The male was charged with Theft Under $5000 and later released on an Appearance Notice. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 2nd, 2026.
