Police Media Release - September 20, 2024

Assault with Weapon / Disturbance by Fighting

On September 9th the subject, 15-year-old male youth, attacked another male from behind at Crocus Plains School, got him in a headlock and repeatedly hit him in the face while wearing large rings on that hand. Due to this the victim lost a tooth and had braces damaged. The male was arrested and later released to parent with conditions not to communicate with victim and not to possess weapons. Notice to parents was served to his father. Victim was notified. Court date is set for December 17th, 2024.

 

Theft Under $5000

On September 19th at 1:11PM an employee from a business in the 900 block of 18th Street (Corral Centre) reported two female suspects walked out of the store with approximately $1500 in stolen merchandise. They were said to have left in a vehicle with description provided. Surveillance video was provided to police and one of the two subjects was immediately identified.

At 2:40PM a police officer observed the vehicle in the 1200 block of 8th Street. The accused abandoned it in a private driveway and started to walk away, at which time the 31-year-old female was arrested. The vehicle was towed to BPS and the female was arrested and held in custody with court in the morning on September 20th, 2024. Second subject is yet to be identified.

 

Mischief Under $5000

On September 14th at 4:25AM a call came in from the 600 block of 12th Street stating a male was banging loudly on the door and had broken a window on the side of the house. Police located a 15-year-old male on the porch of the residence. He was intoxicated and turned over to an adult in the home in which he resides. He was charged on September 19th with a court date of November 26th, 2024.

 

Assault / Failure to Comply with Release Order X3

On September 19th at 12:15PM police attended a residence on Lark Street where it was known a male was raging. When Police arrived, it was disclosed the male had assaulted a female by pushing her into a door frame and then fleeing. The male is currently bound by a Release Order from an assault that occurred on September 5th.  He breached 3 conditions of that Release Order. Police located the 29-year-old male attempting to evade police. He was held in custody and will attend court in the morning on September 20th, 2024.

 

Drug Bust

On September 20th Brandon Police Organized Crime Section attended a residence in Meadowlark Campground with a CDSA Search Warrant. A 36-year-old female was located inside and arrested and transported to BPS. Upon searching the residence various drugs, selling materials, ammunition, a replica Glock handgun, $280 cash and over ten cell phones were found.

Organized Crime Section attended to a second location where the female was known to be residing on Willowdale Crescent. The bedroom she rents was padlocked shut. Inside officers found a BB gun, bear mace, and two functioning digital scales.

The female was held in custody for court in the morning on September 20th, 2024.  

Street value of Methamphetamine found is approximately $17,000 and street value of Fentanyl found is approximately $900.

Charges: Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking: Methamphetamine, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking: Fentanyl, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime less than or equal to $5000, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Unsafe Storage of Firearms, and Weapons Possession Contrary to Order.

 

Failure to Comply Undertaking

On September 19th at 7:25PM Police responded to a report of an altercation between two groups of individuals on Westaway Bay. Police attended the residence in which the individuals had entered and all except one came out cooperatively. That male was found under a platform style bed.

Consent to search the home was granted; no weapons located.

A 21-year-old male was arrested and held in custody on charges of Failing to Comply with Undertaking for breaching a No Contact Order. He will be released in the morning on an Appearance Notice with a court date of December 2nd, 2024.

 

Theft Under $5000 X2, Mischief Under $5000

On September 11th, 2024, a report of two bikes stolen from the 900 block of Victoria Avenue was made. The bikes were locked but had been cut. Security footage allowed police to identify the suspect. On September 20th, 2024, he was located by police and arrested. He was released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of November 21st, 2024.

 

Breach of Peace

On September 20th at 3:43AM an employee reported a male running naked in the 1800 block of Middleton Avenue. Police located the individual who had since donned shorts. The 30-year-old male was intoxicated and arrested to prevent further issue. He was held in detention cells and will be released in the morning once sober.
