Police Media Release - September 1, 2024

For the past 24 hours:

 

Theft of Vehicle

On August 31st a male reported that his vehicle had been stolen from the 300 block 2nd street overnight. This vehicle is described as a Grey 4-door Dodge Caliber bearing Manitoba license plate HNA965.

 

Imitation use of firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon, carry concealed weapon, assault with a weapon, and failing to comply with a release order.

At 2120 hours a male was walking his dog in the 500 block of 4th street when he was confronted by an 18 year old male who pointed an imitation firearm (BB gun) at him. After a brief confrontation the 18 year old male shot the other male with the BB gun multiple times then ran away being chased by the victim. The accused was apprehended by police a short distance away and a police K-9 located the BB gun discarded in an open field behind a nearby business. The victim did not sustain any serious injuries and the 18 year old male was lodged for court the following morning.

 

Breach of the Peace/Intoxicated Person’s Detention Act

Three males between the ages of 33 and 29 were arrested overnight at various hotels in Brandon. All three were highly intoxicated and causing disturbances at the respective properties.

 

Impaired Driving and Refusal to provide breath sample

At 0229 hours a vehicle was stopped on McDonald Avenue in Brandon and the 39 year old male driver was believed by officers to be intoxicated. Once in custody the male refused to provide a sample of his breath and was subsequently charged with refusal and impaired driving then released with a September court date.
