Police Media Release - November 30, 2024

Breach of Undertaking:

Just before 7:00 AM Friday morning, Police attended to a residence on Queens Crescent for a call for service.  Upon attending members determined that a 25 year-old female was on a police imposed order to reside there and to abide by a curfew.  As she was not there, she was arrestable for the breach.  Several hours later as the members continued the investigation into the original call, the female came into the area in a taxi but did not stop.  Members conducted a traffic stop of the cab, and the female was taken into custody.  She will appear before the court today.

Breach of Release Order:

Just before midnight Friday, Police were called to the 18th Street A&W Restaurant for a report of a highly intoxicated and paranoid female inside.  Members located the 26 year old female and determined she was the subject of a court order that included an 11PM – 7AM curfew.  The female was arrested, medically cleared, and held in custody to appear before the court today.

 

Prohibited Drivers:

At about 1:15AM Saturday morning, a traffic stop in the 1700 block Lorne Avenue resulted in a 48 year-old male being arrested for prohibited driving.  He was processed at the scene and released from custody to appear in court on January 20th.

At around 5:00 AM Saturday morning, Police attempted to stop a vehicle in the 300 block 1st Street when a records query revealed that the registered owner of the vehicle was the subject of a license suspension.  The vehicle was initially traveling below the speed limit then accelerated quickly and ran a red light.  For public safety, no pursuit was initiated.  Approximately 45 minutes later, the vehicle was found unoccupied in the parking lot of a motel on the North Hill, and the driver was seen to run into the motel.  He was apprehended shortly thereafter.  It was determined that he was wanted on warrants for arrest for offences relating to driving with a driver’s license, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and flight from Police.  He also faces new charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and flight from Police, and will appear before the court today.

 

Arrest Warrant and IRP:

Just after 5:00 AM Saturday morning, a traffic stop was conducted in the 0-00 block 18th Street and the 41 year-old male driver showed signs of impairment.  He the provided breath samples into an approved screening device which resulted in readings of fail.  The driver was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP).  A records query also showed that he was the subject of a warrant for arrest for theft under $5000 and trafficking stolen property.  He was arrested on the strength of the warrant, and later released to appear in Court on February 10th.
