Police Media Release - March 7, 2025

Robbery with Violence

On March 6th at 9:06AM there was a 911 call of a stabbing at an establishment in the 1800 block of 1st Street North. Multiple suspects entered a hotel room and stabbed the victim, a 24-year-old male, and robbed him of cash.

Injuries to the victim were serious, however first responding Police officers provided emergency medical aid in the form of massive hemorrhage intervention, quite possibly saving his life until EMS arrived.

K9 Zeus conducted a track which led to a nearby gas station where video surveillance captured the three suspects leaving in a taxi. The taxi dropped them off at an address in the 800 block of 2nd Street. Police officers responding observed two of the three get back into a taxi and leave the residence. Police stopped that taxi and the two individuals within were arrested – a 21-year-old male and a 26-year-old female.  

Meanwhile, Police at the residence on 2nd Street had all occupants exit the home. The three women who exited were taken into custody and an investigation led to one of them, a 39-year-old female, being identified as the third person involved.

Search warrants were obtained for both the hotel room and the residence on 2nd Street which resulted in locating a machete, knife, backpack and some of the suspects clothing.

Charges:

21-year-old male – Robbery with Violence, Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon, Breach of Probation, and Breach of Conditional Sentence.

39-year-old female – Robbery with Violence, Possession of a Weapon, and Warrant charge of Failure to Attend Court and Theft Under $5000.

26-year-old female – Robbery with Violence

All three suspects will attend court in the morning on Friday, March 7th, 2025.

 

Arrest Warrant

On March 6th at 2:00PM Police attended Probation Services and arrested a 37-year-old female who had a Warrant for her arrest (Failure to Comply Probation). She was released via Appearance Notice with a court date of April 3rd, 2025.

 

IPDA (Intoxicated Persons Detention Act)

On March 6th at 6:22PM Police responded to a report of an intoxicated female in the stairwell of a building in the 200 block of 5th Street who was refusing to leave after having previously been kicked out. The 24-year-old female was held in detention cells and will be released once sober.

 

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime / Possession of Credit Card

On March 6th at 7:18PM Police received a report of a vehicle that had been broken into the 000 block of 10th Street. Property was stolen from within. Local business security had a suspect in their custody and had retrieved most of the property. Police arrested the 27-year-old female. She was later released on an Undertaking with a court date of May 1st, 2025.

 

Theft Under $5000

On March 6th at 6:58PM a store in the 1400 block of 1st Street North, reported a female present who was the suspect from a previous shoplifting incident on February 12th, 2025. Video footage was available and confirmed. Police arrested the 44-year-old female on location. She was released for court on an Appearance Notice with a court date of May 12th, 2025.

 

Failure to Comply Probation

On March 6th at 11:22PM Police attended a residence in the 1500 block of Lorne Avenue. It was confirmed a 13-year-old male youth was breaching his curfew conditions. At 1:12AM the youth was located and arrested. He was released via Appearance Notice with a court date April 8th, 2025.

 

Immediate Roadside Prohibition / 90 Day Suspension

On March 7th at 12:17AM Police observed an erratic driver near 18th Street and Brandon Avenue. A traffic stop was conducted. The 40-year-old male driver provided breath samples of which resulted in failure. The vehicle was towed.
