Police Media Release - March 29th, 2026

For the Past 24 Hours:

Break, Enter, and Theft:

On Friday morning, around 10:00 AM, a member on general patrol attempted to stop a newer model GMC truck after observing it being operated in a suspicious manner. The truck fled and no pursuit was initiated. Police attended to the registered owner’s residence and discovered that the residence had been broken into, and the truck was stolen. Investigation revealed that the owners were away and the home had been victimized. Approximately 1.5 hours later, the truck was located abandoned near 26th Street & Rosser Avenue and a number of firearms were located in it.

During the ensuing investigation, involving patrol members, major crime section members, and the forensic identification unit, four suspects were identified, located, and arrested. All were in custody and appeared before the court on Saturday facing multiple charges. A 28 year-old male is facing 36 criminal charges relating to break and enter, possession of stolen property, and firearm related offences; a 23 year-old male is facing 7 criminal charges relating to break and enter and possession of stolen property offences; a 21 year-old female is charged with 20 criminal charges relating to break and enter, property, and firearm offences; and a 24 year-old female is facing 16 criminal charges relating to break and enter, property, and firearm offences. The four accused remain in custody and the investigation is ongoing with more arrests and charges anticipated.

 

Arrest Warrants Executed:

On Saturday morning, Winnipeg Police Service advised that they had arrested a 34 year-old male on the strength of a warrant for arrest held by BPS for offences under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act. He was held in custody at their point to appear before the court.

On Saturday afternoon, while conducting a walk-through of a beverage room in the 0-00 block 10th Street, officers identified a 38 year old male and were aware that a warrant for his arrest was in effect. The warrant was confirmed and the male was arrested, processed, and released to appear in court on April 30th facing one count of failing to comply with probation order.

At about 5:45 AM this morning a 39 year-old male was located at a Glen Avenue residence and taken into custody on the strength of a warrant for arrest for failing to comply with conditions of a Release Order. He will be released to appear in court on April 30th.

 

Others:

A 19 year-old male was arrested for causing a disturbance in or about a licensed premise after police were called for a fight in the parking lot outside of Houston’s. The male was lodged to sober up and will be issued tickets under the Liquor & Cannabis Control Act.
