Police News Release - March 21st, 2026
For The Past 24 Hours:
Theft of Vehicle, Collision, and Impaired:
At about 12:35 PM Friday afternoon, a Brandon woman reported that her ex-partner, a 36 year-old male, had stolen her vehicle and was intoxicated. She witnessed him hit a fence, causing damage to both the vehicle and fence, then drive away. Just before 1:00 PM, a second call was received of a possible impaired driver who had abandoned the vehicle in the 200 block Franklin Street, toss the keys, and walk away. The male suspect was located nearby and taken into custody. He was returned to BPS where he provided breath samples with results over three times the legal limit. He was held in custody to be released this morning. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 26th facing impaired driving charges, theft of motor vehicle, and tickets under the Highway Traffic Act relating to leaving the scene of an accident and driving without holding a valid license.
Parolee Surrenders:
A recently paroled 35 year-old male turned himself into Police after learning that a parole suspension warrant had been issued for him after he failed to report as required. He was arrested and held in custody.
Arrest Warrants Executed:
An officer on patrol observed a 29 year-old female in the 0-00 block 26th Street at about 8:25 PM Friday evening and was known to be arrestable on the strength of a warrant for arrest for theft under $5000. She was taken into custody, processed, and released with a court date of April 23rd.
A 49 year-old male was located at his Fife Close residence when officers attended there in an attempt to arrest him on the strength of warrants for arrest. He was taken into custody on warrants for failing to comply a Recognizance Order, failing to attend court, break and enter, and theft under $5000. As the warrants were not endorsed he was held in custody and will appear before the court this morning.
Just after midnight Saturday morning, a 25 year-old male was arrested during a traffic stop in the 1600 block 18th Street when a records check returned a warrant for arrest for failing to attend court. He was processed and released from custody with a court date of April 27th.
At about 1:50 AM Saturday morning, an 18 year-old female was arrested at a Westaway Bay address after a family member reported she had shown up there intoxicated and causing a disturbance. It was determined that she was the subject of a warrant for arrest for failing to comply with a probation order and failing to attend court. As she was too intoxicated, she was held in custody and will be released this morning with a court date of April 20th.
A 19 year-old male was arrested on the strength of a Supervision Suspension Warrant while in police custody on other matters.
Others:
A 31 year-old female was held in custody overnight, to prevent further breaches of the peace, after she continued to return to a residence where she was not wanted.
An intoxicated 53 year-old male was arrested at residence in the 700 block 19th Street after family members reported he was acting aggressively and threatening people in the home. He was held overnight to sober up.
A 21 year-old female was removed from a home in the 200 block 8th Street for causing a disturbance. She, too, was held overnight to prevent any further disturbances as her behaviours were escalating.
Just after midnight, a group of three underaged intoxicated females were located near the 1200 block Lorne Avenue East. Two of the group were turned over to a parent, and the third was being taken home when she began kicked the police cruiser, including the roof. She had to be restrained and was taken for medical assessment, after which she was held in custody to sober up. She will released this morning to a family member and is charged with consuming liquor under 18 years of age.
