Police Media Release - March 17, 2025

Breach of Peace

On March 16th at 1:40 PM 911 received multiple calls from the same anonymous female caller stating someone was trying to blow up her house and a woman was sprinkling explosive powder on her property. A search associated the address and phone # to a 46-year-old female. Police attended the address in the 200 block of 4th Street. The intoxicated by drug female was found and Police ensured the claims were unfounded. She was arrested, medically cleared and held in detention cells. She will be released once sober.

 

Robbery With Violence

On March 16th at 2:38 PM Police were called to a business in the 3400 block of Victoria Avenue. A male had entered the store, put merchandise in a bag and when confronted by staff, the male kicked the staff member and left. Video footage was obtained, and Police identified the 26-year-old male. Police soon after located the male in the 3600 block of Victoria Avenue. He was arrested, held in detention cells and will attend court on March 17th, 2025.

 

Assault, Resist Arrests

On March 16th at 4:22 PM Police were called to an assault occurring at a residence on McDonald Avenue.  The 32-year-old female managed to leave the house as police arrived. The 39-year-old male slammed the door shut and began barricading it. Authorization was given to force entry. The male tried escaping Police by running to the basement and barricading the stairs while threatening to set the house on fire. He eventually was arrested however proceeded to resist arrest when attempting to secure the male in the police cruiser. The male was sober. He was held in detention cells and will attend court on March 17th, 2025.

 

Failure to Comply Release Order

On March 15th Police were informed of a 24-year-old female who was out past her Court Ordered curfew of 9pm-7am. On March 16th she was located and brought to Brandon Police Service where she was arrested and held in detention cells for court in the morning on March 17th, 2025.
