Police Media Release - January 9, 2025

Arrest Warrant
On January 8th at 6:19AM a traffic stop was conducted in the 200 block of 15th Street as it was travelling the wrong way. The passenger of the vehicle was found to have an outstanding unendorsed Warrant of Arrest from Brandon Police Service (BPS) as well as Manitoba First Nations Police (MFNP). The 32-year-old female was arrested on her Failure to Attend Court X3 charges and Failure to Comply with probation. She was held in detention cells and attended court in the morning. (The vehicle was later discovered to be stolen after contact was made with the registered owner. New charges pending for the driver.) New charge was added for the passenger – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
Arrest Warrant
On January 8th at 1:00PM a 32-year-old male was located in the 1300 block of 5th Street, and it was confirmed he had a Warrant for Arrest (Committal Warrant). He was arrested, held in detention cells and will attend court in the morning on January 9th, 2025.
Arrest Warrant
On January 8th at 2:00PM a call was received of a female in distress at a restaurant on Middleton Avenue. Police arrived and the female was not found to be in distress, declined medical attention, but did hold an endorsed Warrant for Arrest. Charges pending were a WPS Assault with Weapon and a MFNP charge of Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and Mischief Over $5000.
She was released on an Appearance Notice for court in Emerson March 13th and Winnipeg March 18th, 2025. The female then changed her mind and was transported to the hospital at her request though no comments were made or concern for self-harm.
Arrest Warrant
On January 8th at 2:32PM a call from Probation Services came in as they had a 25-year-old male there and believed he had a warrant. Warrant for Failure to Comply with Conditional Sentence Order was confirmed. He was arrested and held for court.
Warrant Executed / New Charges
On January 8th at 1:29PM police located a 28-year-old female in the 100 block of 9th Street. An unendorsed Warrant for Arrest was confirmed. A knife and smally quantity of meth was found on her person upon arrest. She is currently on a Release Order not to have weapons and not to possess drugs. Charged accordingly, arrested, held in detention cells and will attend court in the morning on January 9th, 2025.
RCMP Warrant Executed / New Charges
On January 8th 3:36PM a call came in from a business in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue of a suspicious person who has been banned previously. Police attended and located a 42-year-old male with a female who he was on conditions not to communicate with as well as a condition not to attend Brandon, MB except for court. The male is also not to change address without a Judge’s permission. There was also an unendorsed Warrant for Arrest (RCMP). The male was arrested without incident, held in detention cells and will attend court in the morning on January 9th, 2025.
Arrest Warrants
From the 7PM-7AM shift three more individuals, all in separate incidents, were arrested and held in detention cells at BPS for Warrants of Arrest and will attend court in the morning on January 9th, 2025.
One additional incident saw an individual arrested on the strength of a Warrant for Arrest but released via Undertaking with a court date of February 3rd, 2025.
Intoxicated Persons Detention Act (IPDA)
On January 8th at 8:00PM a 32-year-old male was released from BPS after being in custody for nearly 24 hours. At 9:03PM police were dispatched due to a male wandering in traffic. Police located the 32-year-old male in the 200 block of 18th Street who was again intoxicated. He was arrested and taken to hospital where he was held due to his level of intoxication and elevated heartrate.
Triple Arrest
On January 9th at 12:39AM police conducted a traffic stop near Ashgrove Blvd. The three occupants of the vehicle were all arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest.
32-year-old female – provided a false name leading to a Public Mischief charge. Warrant of Arrest – Failure to Attend Court.
20-year-old male – had a machete resulting in a Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose Charge. Warrant of Arrest for Failure to Attend Court, Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Uttering Threats.
24-year-old male – Warrant of Arrests for Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Uttering Threats, Failure to Attend Ident and Failure to Comply with Probation.
The vehicle was towed. Nobody possessed a valid drivers license. It is unknown if the vehicle is stolen as the registered owner could not be contacted. All three were held in detention cells for court in the morning on January 9th, 2025.
