Police Media Release - January 30, 2025

On January 29th at 10:22AM a call was received of a male that fell and was laying in the street at 9th and Pacific Avenue. Police attended and a highly intoxicated 30-year-old male was arrested, medically cleared and brought to detention cells to prevent issues or self-harm.

On January 29th at 8:49AM police were called to Town Centre due to a highly intoxicated female who was on the washroom floor and couldn’t get up. She admitted to taking pills. The 47-year-old woman was taken for medical clearance and was not cleared so was left in the care of Brandon Hospital staff.
Assault with a Weapon / Failure to Comply Release Order X2
On January 29th at 12:24PM police were called to an encounter where a 35-year-old male attacked another male in the 200 block of 18th Street North. The male was in possession of an axe during the incident. He was located by police running from the scene. He was arrested and found to have drug paraphernalia on his person which breaches his release conditions. He was also in possession of the reported axe. He was arrested and held in detention cells to attend court in the morning on January 30th, 2025.
Theft Under $5000
On December 20th staff at store in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue reported a theft of $40 worth of merchandise. The accused was confirmed to be the suspect via video surveillance. On January 29th at 12:54PM the accused, 30-year-old male, was arrested in the 100 block of 5th Street. He was held in detention cells to attend court in the morning on January 30th, 2025.
Arrest Warrant
On January 29th at 1:55PM a persons check was conducted in the 300 block of 10th Street. The 30-year-old male was found to have an endorsed Warrant for Arrest. He was arrested, processed and later released via Undertaking with a court date of March 10th, 2025.
Arrest Warrant
On January 29th at 5:04PM police attended a residence in the 1200 block of 10th Street and found a 41-year-old male who had orders not to attend that residence. He was arrested and held in detention cells to attend court in the morning on January 30th, 2025.

On January 29th at approximately 9:15PM a taxi was stopped in the 100 block of 19th Street North. The passenger was wanted on a Warrant for Arrest (Failure to Attend Court). The male was arrested and held in detention cells to attend court in the morning on January 30th, 2025.
Assault Charges
On January 29th at approximately 10:46PM a 27-year-old female entered a restaurant lounge and announced she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend.
At approximately 11:22PM a 29-year-old male attended BPS to report that same female had assaulted him.
Both parties gave statements, and both had minor physical injuries consistent with being in an altercation. Both were charged with Assault and will attend court on April 3rd, 2025. They were released on an Undertaking.
Breach of Peace
On the evening of January 29th there were two separate incidents where police were called and individuals were arrested, medically cleared then held in BPS detention cells to prevent further issues or self-harm. They will be released in the morning once sober.
Failure to Comply – Release Order
On January 30th at approximately 2:26AM police noticed an individual in the 700 block of Princess Avenue who was breaching curfew conditions. As the officer excited the police cruiser, the woman fled into a building and was found hiding in a closet. The 28-year-old female was highly intoxicated, which was also a breach of her Release Order. She was arrested and held in detention cells and will attend court in the morning on January 30th, 2025.
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
On January 10th a male was caught on a doorbell camera abandoning a stolen truck in the 300 block of Lorne Avenue East. At the time of the incident a 27-year-old male was a suspect. On January 29th a search warrant was executed by BPS at Brandon Correctional Centre (BCC) of his belongings, which matched the doorbell camera footage. He was arrested at BCC for the offence. He will attend court on January 30th, 2025, for this Possession of Property Obtained by Crime charge.
As incidents developed, this same male was found to be a suspect for a January 10th stolen from Winnipeg Nissan Rogue. Multiple check points of video surveillance confirmed this. The 27-year-old was still in possession of the key fob for it when the above search warrant was executed. The male is bound by a Release Order directing that he not occupy a driver’s seat, and he must not be in a vehicle without the registered owner’s consent. He is also the subject of three separate driving prohibitions. This incident will also be dealt with in court on January 30th, 2025, with charges including Possession of Property Obtained by Crime X3, Operate Conveyance While Prohibited X3, and Failure to Comply Release Order X2.
