Break & Enter

On January 12th it was reported to police that a residence in Otter Bay had a person break into the garage at 4:30AM. The suspect got into the vehicle in the driveway, stole a pair of sunglasses and the garage opener from the vehicle & used the opener to access the garage. Suspect entered the garage but did not take anything.

Arson

On January 12th at 6:46AM a report of a fire at Eastview Landfill came in. Members attended and confirmed a large fire in the dumping area. Brandon Fire & Emergency Services attended and subdued the fire. Two other reports of fires set at the landfill have come in on January 10th as well as January 11th. The suspect of these fires is described as a male that regularly attends the landfill in the middle of the night wearing a headlamp while riding a bike and pulling a trailer.

Theft Under $5000

On November 7th, 2024, a report of theft from a store in the 900 block of 18th Street North came. Three subjects had stolen over $945 in merchandise. On January 12th, 2025, a 35-year-old female from the party was identified, located and arrested for this crime. She was issued an Undertaking with a court date of February 13th, 2025.  

Investigation continues for two other parties involved in the crime.

 

Theft of Motor Vehicle / Theft Under $5000 / Operate Conveyance While Prohibited / Failure to Comply Release Order / Use Stolen Credit Card / Possess Stolen Credit Card / Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

On January 10th at approximately 4:24PM a vehicle was stolen while it was warming up outside of a residence in the 700 block of 4th Street. The registered owner had placed a lunch, wallet and cellphone in the vehicle when it was started. The stolen vehicle was driven up to the Wayway gas bar where the accused used a credit card of the vehicle owner’s to purchase multiple items, including a jerry can. The jerry can was filled and the attendant put the full jerry can in the vehicle. The suspect did not pay for the fuel put in the jerry can nor for fuel for the vehicle. He fled, abandoning the stolen vehicle near Minnedosa, at which time on January 11th another vehicle was stolen by him. The 27-year-old male was apprehended and identified by surveillance videos. The male is bound by three prohibited driving orders, as well as a Release Order, from which he breached two separate conditions. The male is in custody at Brandon Correctional Centre on RCMP charges and was arrested there the evening of January 12th, 2025. He will attend court on January 13th, 2025.
