Police Media Release - February 7, 2025

Arrest Warrant with New Charges

On February 6th at 11:02AM police saw a man in the 800 block of Louise Avenue who was known to have an outstanding Warrant for Arrest. Upon arresting the accused, he was found to have a gram of meth on him. Further search revealed two knives in his backpack. The 30-year-old male provided a different address than the one he was on order to reside in. He was arrested, held in detention cells and will attend court in the morning. Charges are Possess Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Possess Controlled Substance, to wit: Methamphetamine, Failure to Comply Undertaking, Failure to Comply Release OrderX2, Warrant of Arrest – Breach of Undertaking.

 

Swan River RCMP Arrest Warrant

On February 6th at 2:15PM a 33-year-old male was located walking in the 800 block of Rosser Avenue. He was found to have an endorsed Swan River RCMP Warrant. He was arrested and later released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of April 17th, 2025.

 

LGCA – Liquor Gaming & Cannabis Authority of MB

On February 6th at 2:12PM a call was received of a male outside of a business in the 900 block of 18th Street who appeared highly intoxicated. The male was rolling in the snow, talking to himself and creating danger for himself and others by running towards vehicles. Police attended and located the 34-year-old male. He was arrested and held in detention cells at BPS to prevent self-harm or incident. He will be released once sober.

 

Theft Under $5000

On January 22nd staff from a business in the 2600 block of Victoria Avenue reported that an unknown male stole $100 worth of merchandise. On February 6th at 2:46PM a BPS member spotted an individual entering a drop-in centre wearing the same clothing as the suspect from the theft. The 40-year-old male was confirmed to be the same person in the surveillance video. He was arrested and later released on an Undertaking with a court date of April 7th, 2025.

 

IPDA – Intoxicated Persons Detention Act

On February 6th at 8:52PM BPS received a call regarding the wellbeing of a male in the alley of the 300 block of 8th Street. Police located the highly intoxicated 23-year-old male. He was arrested and held in detention cells until sober.

 

Breach of the Peace

On February 7th at 4:25AM police were called to a disturbance in the 600 block of 20th Street. Reports of shouting could be heard along with a female yelling, “Go ahead and hit me”. BPS members attended and found a 35-year-old female to be the cause of the disturbance. No disclosure of domestic violence. She was arrested and held in detention cells to prevent further disturbance.
