Arrest Warrants
In the last 24-hours Brandon Police Service (BPS) executed five Warrants of Arrest. Of the five, three people were released on Appearance Notices and two were held for court in the morning on February 28th, 2025.
IPDA (Intoxicated Persons Detention Act)
In the last 24 hours two separate incidents resulted in two arrests for IPDA.
On February 28th at 5:19AM a persons check was conducted in the zero hundred block of 9th Street. A 49-year-old female was fighting the wind. She was found to be highly intoxicated. Held at BPS in detention cells until sober.
On February 27th around noon, BPS received several calls regarding a male passed out in front of a business in the 2600 block of Victoria Avenue. Members attended and found the 43-year-old male. The male was highly intoxicated, arrested and held in detention cells. He will be released once sober.
Theft Under $5000
On February 27th at 1:55PM it was reported a male had just left a store in the 900 block of 9th Street after stealing approximately $50 worth of meat. A description was provided, and police located the 28-year-old male north bound on 9th Street. He was arrested and later released on an Undertaking with a court date of May 1st, 2025.
Assault
On February 27th at 3:02PM a call was received of an intoxicated male assaulting his partner having kicked her in the face. Police attended the residence in the 400 block of 13th Street. The male would not let anyone open the door to Police. Entry made by Police members and located the intoxicated 46-year-old male. Due to prior Assault from the same male with the same victim (44-year-old female partner), he was not released on conditions but was instead arrested, held in detention cells and will attend court in the morning on February 28th, 2025.
Theft Under $5000
On February 27th at 1:45PM Police were called to a business in the 600 block of Rosser Avenue where a power drill had just been stolen. Security footage was viewed, and a description of the suspect was obtained. At 2:30PM Police located the suspect at a business in the 800 block of Pacific Avenue. The 38-year-old female was in possession of the stolen drill. She was released on scene on an Undertaking with a court date of April 17th, 2025. The drill was returned to the store.
Resist/Obstruct Peace Officer & Various Tickets
On February 27th at 5:16PM a traffic stop was attempted with a vehicle in the 300 block of 5th Street. The vehicle pulled into an alley and the occupants tried to run. All occupants were caught by Police.
A ticket was issued to the 32-year-old female passenger for open liquor in the motor vehicle and she was released.
The driver, 39-year-old male, was transported to BPS where fingerprints were obtained, and he was charged with Resisting Arrest as well as numerous tickets for Driving Unregistered Vehicle, Drive without Liability Insurance, Drive with Invalid License, Fail to Stop when Requested by Police Officer, Unlawful Transportation of Liquor in Motor Vehicle.
He was later released on an Undertaking with a court date of May 5th, 2025.
Assault
On February 27th while dealing with a separate incident, Police became aware of an assault that occurred. Police re-attended a home in the 900 block of Dennis Street and arrested a 29-year-old male without incident. He was later released on an Undertaking with a court date of April 14th, 2025.
Assault X2 / Mischief to Property X2
On February 27th at 9:08PM Police were called to a disturbance at a residence on Aster Crescent. A 43-year-old male was accused of assaulting his daughter and her friend as well as smashed each of their phones. The male had left prior to Police arrival however several hours later at 1:13AM Police located him in the 700 block of 9th Street. He was intoxicated. Police arrested the male, and he was held in detention cells. He will be released once sober on an Undertaking. A court date has been set for May 5th, 2025.
Break & Enter / Theft Under $5000
On February 28th at 1:54AM, alarm hits came in from a business in the 3500 block of Victoria Avenue. Shopping cart tracks were observed in the snow. A K9 track was conducted which led to a 31-year-old male who had stolen 6 cases of alcohol from the business and had them in a shopping cart. The male was arrested, held in detention cells and will attend court in the morning on February 28th, 2025. Alcohol was returned to the business.
