Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Attempt Break and Enter, Possess Break-in Instruments
On February 22nd at 9:51AM police were called to a residence in the 800 block of Richmond Avenue where a male was banging on the house and garage doors. Police attended and located a 45-year-old male who was found to have a knife in his waistband and a crowbar in his possession. He was arrested, held in detention cells and attended court in the morning on Sunday, February 23rd.
Assault X2, Assault with a Weapon
On February 22nd at 12:27PM a 911 call was received requesting a male be removed from a residence in the 300 block of 14th Street. Police attended and located the male, who had since left the residence, in the 400 block of 13th Street. The 31-year-old male had been recorded assaulting a 26-year-old female. Victim had also been slapped by him several times the previous day. The male was arrested, held in detention cells and attended court in the morning on Sunday, February 23rd.
Arrest Warrant
On Saturday, February 22nd at 5:34PM Brandon Police Service (BPS) members attended a residence in the 1200 block of Rosser Avenue regarding a subject of an unendorsed Warrant of Arrest (Firearms X3, Possess Break and Enter Instruments). At the residence the 35-year-old male was located and arrested. The male was held in detention cells and attended court in the morning on Sunday, February 23rd.
Breach of Release Order
On February 22nd at 9:31PM an 18-year-old male was located at a restaurant contrary to his 6:00PM curfew. He was arrested upon leaving the establishment. He was sober and later released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of April 7th, 2025.
IPDA (Intoxicated Persons Detention Act)
On February 22nd at 10:21PM police attended a business in the 1000 block of 18th Street where a highly intoxicated male who had been kicked out refused to leave. Police located the highly intoxicated 45-year-old male. He was arrested, held in detention cells and was released once sober.
Breach of Release Order
On February 22nd at 10:45PM a traffic stop was conducted. The operator of the vehicle, 31-year-old male, was bound by two orders of no contact with the passenger in the vehicle. He was arrested and held in detention cells for court in the morning on Sunday, February 23rd.
Pursuit with Arrests
At 1:19AM Sunday, February 23rd, police members were attending an unrelated call in the 1700 block of Middleton Avenue when a suspicious vehicle with two occupants and one headlight was noted by police. Upon activating the emergency vehicle lights, the vehicle sped up and continued east on Middleton Avenue reaching speeds of 80km/hour. Due to dry road conditions and no traffic the vehicle was followed south down 1st Street where it reached 100km/hour. The deployment of a stop stick was successful in deflating a front tire. The vehicle reached a stop at 1st Street and Brock Avenue where the occupants ran from the vehicle. (Total pursuit time was 4.5 minutes.)
A perimeter was set, and one suspect was taken into custody immediately. K9 Zeus tracked the area leading to the other suspect hiding in the rafters of a locked shed. The accused came out on his own and admitted to being the driver of the vehicle. Spent shotgun shells were within the vehicle and the driver admitted to throwing a shotgun out of the car while being pursued. Police located said shotgun in the curves of 1st Street. Query of the firearm determined it was stolen out of Carnduff, Saskatchewan.
The 27-year-old male passenger was highly intoxicated, cleared and held for court on February 23rd, 2025. Charges pending - Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Possess Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition, and Flight from Police.
The 31-year-old male driver was sober and held for court on February 23rd, 2025. Charges pending - Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Possess Firearm Contrary to an Undertaking, Break and Enter, Flight from Police and Breach of Undertaking X2.
