Police Media Release - December 9, 2024

Failure to Comply – Release Order

On Saturday, December 7th at 7:34PM police observed a 24-year-old female without either of her securities shopping in a store in the 3400 block of Victoria Avenue. Due to previous charges the female had a 24-hour curfew. On Sunday, December 8th she was arrested, held in BPS detention cells and will attend court in the morning on December 9th, 2024.  

 

Theft Resulting in Various Charges

On December 8th at 4:47PM a Loss Prevention Officer (LPO) from a business in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue reported a theft from the store. Police apprehended a 33-year-old male as he got into a cab a block down. The male was in possession of a small folding knife, putting him in breach of two orders. The male is also not to attend Brandon and not to attend that store specifically, again breaching orders. $145.25 in merchandise was recovered and returned to the store. The male was arrested, held in BPS detention cells and will attend court in the morning on December 9th.

New Charges: Theft Under $5000, Possess Weapon, Failure to Comply Release Order, Failure to Comply Probation

 

Mischief Under $5000

On December 8th at 5:12PM a police officer on patrol observed someone using a bingo dabber for graffiti in the 100 block of 10th Street. The 46-year-old woman was charged and released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of February 10th, 2025.

 

Break and Enter with Intent / Uttering Threats / Possess Weapon

On December 8th at 6:22PM members responded to a report of threats happening at a residence in Confederation Bay. The suspects forced their way inside and threatened the occupants with bear spray before fleeing. Police located and arrested a 23-year-old male suspect. He was held in detention cells and will attend court in the morning on December 9th, 2025. The other suspect remains outstanding.

 

IPDA (Intoxicated Persons Detention Act)

On December 8th at 6:09PM police were called to the 1500 block of 18th Street where a female was running in front of vehicles without any shoes on. A 26-year-old female was located and taken for medical clearance. She was held in BPS detention cells and will be released once sober.

 

Vehicle Fire

On December 8th at 9:12PM 911 reported a vehicle on fire on Clare Avenue. Witnesses assisted the driver/owner from the vehicle and got him to safety. He refused medical treatment. Fire determined to be non-suspicious. (The vehicle was stuck in snow, and the owner attempted to move it with repeated revving. The fuel tank breached adding to the fire). Brandon Fire & Emergency Services remained on scene with vehicle until it could be towed. 

 

Theft Under $5000

On December 9th at 3:43AM staff from a business in the 800 block of 1st Street reported a theft. The suspect stole approximately $100 in beef jerky and candy. Security footage assisted in identifying the male. He was located and arrested in the area of 8th and Princess Avenue at 4:12AM. He was released via Undertaking with a court date of February 6th, 2025.
