Arrest Warrant – Failure to Comply with Registration Act
On December 5th at 9:03AM police conducted a traffic stop in the 1500 block of 18th Street North. This stop resulted in the arrest of a 34-year-old male with an outstanding Warrant of Arrest. He was released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of January 13th, 2025.
Breach of Peace / Arrest Warrants
On December 5th at 3:55PM police responded to a report of a possible stabbing at a residence in Aster Crescent. Once inside the home it was determined that no stabbing occurred, only a physical fight. A 43-year-old male was found to be the main issue and was arrested and held in detention cells at Brandon Police Service. (BPS). He is charged with Breach of the Peace and will attend court in the morning on December 6th, 2024.
A 30-year-old male, also in the residence, had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest. He was arrested, held in detention cells, and will attend court in the morning on December 6th, 2025. His charges: Failure to Attend Court X4, Failure to Comply with Undertaking, Impaired, Operation while Impaired, Operation Exceeding 80mgs%.
Arrest Warrant
On December 5th at 9:58PM a traffic stop was initiated behind the 500 block of 13th Street. It was revealed an occupant of the vehicle, 53-year-old male, had unendorsed Warrants held by BPS and Hamiota RCMP. The male was arrested, held in detention cells, and will attend court in the morning on December 6th, 2024.
During the above incident, a 48-year-old female exited the address of the traffic stop. The female had an endorsed warrant. She was released on an Appearance Notice and will attend court on January 6th, 2025.
Arrest Warrants X2 (Virden)
On December 6th at 5:50AM police were called to a disturbance in the 1300 block of 8th Street. Upon arrival police were able to locate a 24-year-old female who had left the scene but was in the area. She was arrested on the strength of two Virden Unendorsed Warrants of Arrest. She was held in custody at BPS detention cells and will attend court in the morning on December 6th, 2024.
Charges Upgraded
On November 11th, 2024, at approximately 7:10AM, a 44-year-old male victim died from injuries he sustained from a serious assault that occurred on September 26th, 2024, at the Brandon Correctional Centre located at 375 Veterans Way. Our sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of the victim.
The victim, who was being held in custody, was seriously injured, unconscious and transported to the hospital on September 26th, 2024. He was then airlifted to Winnipeg’s Health Science Centre that night.
Police reviewed the video surveillance and identified three accused suspects who attacked the victim – a 34-year-old male, and two 26-year-old males.
All three suspects were initially charged with Aggravated Assault and were kept in custody.
Since the death, the three male’s charges have been upgraded:
- 26-year-old (now 27) charged with Manslaughter.
- 26-year-old charged with 2nd Degree Murder.
- 34-year-old charged with 2nd Degree Murder.
