Police Media Release - December 12, 2024

 Aggravated Assault

On July 5th, 2024, Brandon Correctional Centre advised the BPS that a 37-year-old male and a 21-year-old male were seriously assaulted by a group of five Brandon Correctional Centre inmates. At the time, the pair were transported to Brandon hospital for treatment of serious injuries. They remained in hospital for a few days and were later released back to Brandon Correctional Centre.

A lengthy investigation was conducted by BPS members.  On December 10th, 2024, a 24-year-old male was arrested at Brandon Correctional Centre and will have a bail hearing December 11th, 2024, for the Aggravated Assault of the 37-year-old victim and the Assault Causing Bodily Harm of the 21-year-old victim.

Police currently have Arrest Warrants for the four other males who are involved and are actively seeking their apprehension. Two of the males (30, 25) are currently incarcerated in two other institutions within the province and the other two (44, 23) are not currently residing in the city of Brandon. All four are charged with Aggravated Assault and Assault Causing Bodily Harm.

 

Assault / Forcible Confinement / Possess Prohibited Weapon

On December 11th at 6:17AM police were notified of a domestic assault occurring in the 800 block of Rosser Avenue. Upon police arrival the 33-year-old female had fresh bruising on her face. The 41-year-old male had punched her numerous times and would not allow her to leave the apartment. At the time of the arrest a set of brass knuckles were in the possession of the male. He was arrested, held in detention cells at BPS and attended court in the morning.

 

Arrest Warrant

On December 11th at 4:07PM police conducted a pedestrian stop in the 000 block of 9th Street after observing a 33-year-old male who was known to have an Unendorsed Warrant for Arrest. He was arrested, held in detention cells, and will attend court in the morning on December 12th, 2024.

 

Breach of Peace Calls

On December 11th at 9:36PM Police received a call of an intoxicated male causing a disturbance at a residence in the 300 block of 18th street north. A 42-year-old male was arrested, held in detention cells and will be released when sober.

On December 11th at 11:20PM Police received a call of an intoxicated female causing a disturbance a at a residence in the 1200 block of Rosser Avenue. A 43-year-old women was arrested, held in detention cells and will be released when sober.
