Police Media Release - August 2, 2024
Child Pornography & Meth
On August 1st at 7:35AM police executed a search warrant in the 400 block of 4th Street in relation to a Cyber Tip initiated child pornography investigation. A 40-year-old man was arrested and charged with Access, Possession, and Distribution of Child Pornography along with Possession of Meth. A court date is set for October 10th, 2024.
A 27-year-old man was on location and found to have an endorsed Warrant of Arrest. His charges are Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Possession of Meth. His court dates are October 10th, 2024, as well as court in Winnipeg October 9th, 2024.
Drugs were seized as were electronic devices for analysis.
Failure to Comply - Probation Order
On August 1st at 2:35PM police were called to a business in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue where a barred citizen was attending. The 32-year-old male was found and charged with Failure to Comply with Probation. He was released on an appearance notice with a court date of October 10th, 2024.
Warrant Executed
On August 1st at 4:34PM AM police conducted a traffic stop with a Taxi and executed a warrant on a 33-year-old female. She had charges of Failure to Attend Court X3, Failure to Comply with Probation X3, Theft Under $5000, and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon. She was arrested and lodged for court in the morning on August 2nd, 2024.
IPDA
On August 1st at 10:54PM report of a group of people fighting was received for the 3500 block of Victoria Avenue. Police arrived on scene and six people were there. Two individuals, a 25-year-old male and his niece, a 17-year-old female, were arrested due to their intoxication levels and will be released upon being sober. (Father of 17-year-old to pick her up).
Domestic Assault
On August 2nd at 12:32AM police were called to a domestic dispute between a 31-year-old male and a 30-year-old female. Both parties stated the other assaulted them. Both had injuries consistent with their disclosures. Both were arrested and later released for court with charges of Domestic Assault. The male has a court date of September 26th, 2024, and the female for October 3rd, 2024.
Possession of Cocaine
On August 1st at 10:34PM police attempted a persons check in the 1200 bock of Brandon Avenue with a male on a bike. Upon trying to stop him, he tried to evade police and was seen throwing an object to the ground. He was arrested one block later. Police recovered the item he threw which was a bag containing cocaine. In total, the 29-year-old male was found to have 9.5 grams of cocaine (more was in the bag he was carrying) along with $436 cash. He was to abide by conditions not to be in possession of drugs. He was arrested and lodged for court in the morning on August 2nd with charges of Possession of Cocaine, Failure to Comply with Undertaking, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
Assault
On August 1st a 16-year-old female reported her mother’s boyfriend (51-year-old male) had assaulted her. The female had injuries including scratches, a black eye and other bruising. The male was arrested at his residence and charged with Assault. He was later released with a court date of October 7th, 2024.
Breach of Peace
On August 1st at 8:55PM police received a report of a male covered in blood in the lobby of an establishment in the 3500 block of Victoria Avenue. The 35-year-old male would not state what happened except that he got in a fight with “a storm” outside. He was taken to hospital by EMS and later lodged at Brandon Police Station until sober. Red Cross working to find him alternative accommodations.
IPDA
On August 1st at 7:15PM members came across a highly intoxicated 29-year-old male. Family would not take him in, so he was lodged until sober.
Immediate Roadside Prohibition
On August 1st at 9:33PM police pulled over a vehicle in the 1500 block of Pacific Avenue. The 63-year-old male driver blew two fails. Vehicle was towed.
Warrant Executed
On August 2nd at 2:38AM police were called to remove two females from a front step of a residence in the 300 block of 11th Street. Police arrived and noted the one female, 23 years old, had an outstanding warrant of arrest. She was arrested and lodged for court in the morning with charges of Failure to Comply with Release Order.
Breach of Peace
On August 2nd at 2:11AM an establishment in the 3500 block of Victoria Avenue called as a male was trying to break into a vehicle and other things in the back lane. The 18-year-old male was found and arrested. Lodged until sober.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
On August 2nd at 3:06AM police attempted a vehicle stop in the 1100 block of 18th Street as the plates were showing as inactive. The driver jumped from the vehicle, ran and hid. Reports showed the vehicle, a 2015 white Nissan Rogue, was reported stolen to Treherne RCMP on June 13th, 2024. A foot pursuit ensued, and the 19-year-old male was apprehended. He showed signs of impairment. He was in possession of the keys and ammunition. He was arrested and later released to his mother. A court date of September 26th has been set with charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Unsafe Storage of Ammunition, and Resisting Arrest.

On August 2nd at 2:00AM police received a call that an unknown male was banging on a door on 26th street. A 16-year-old male was located highly intoxicated. He was lodged and will be released once sober.
Warrant Executed
On August 2nd at 3:43AM police stopped a group of people in the 200 block of 8th Street. A 48-year-old male was amongst the group who had outstanding warrants from Portage RCMP. He was arrested and lodged for court in the morning on August 2nd with charges of Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Failure to Comply with Undertaking, and Failure to Attend Court.
