Arrest Warrants Executed
A 19 year-old male, currently in custody at Brandon Correctional Centre, was arrested on Friday morning on the strength of a RCMP held warrant for arrest for assault. He will appear in court at a later date.
Winnipeg Police arrested a 44 year-old female on the strength of a BPS held warrant for arrest for possession of property obtained by crime during the course of an unrelated investigation. She was held in custody at their point to appear before the court today.
A 31 year-old female was arrested early Saturday morning at a Westaway Bay residence on the strength of an unendorsed warrant for arrest for assault and failing to attend court. Members had attended there on an unrelated matter and a records query returned the warrant. She was held in custody and will appear before the court today.
Swan River RCMP arrested a 40 year-old male at their point on a BPS held warrant for arrest for failing to attend court. He was released to appear in Court in Brandon on September 23rd.
Theft of Vehicle, Suspect Apprehended by Citizens
At 10:57 AM Friday morning, it was reported that a pick-up truck had just been stolen from outside of an Evergreen Blvd residence. Approximately 10 minutes later, the truck was seen by Police in the area of 34th St & Victoria Ave.. A traffic stop was attempted; however, the truck accelerated away and was being driven in a dangerous manner. For public safety, Police did not purse. Approximately 15 minutes after that, a family member of the truck’s owner reported seeing the truck southbound on 18th St, and shortly thereafter reported that the driver had abandoned the truck and fled on foot. With the help of a bystander, the family member made a citizen’s arrest, and the suspect was turned over to Police, who arrived on scene 2 minutes later. A 39 year-old male was arrested for theft of motor vehicle, dangerous operation, and flight from police. He was held in custody and will appear before the court today.
Domestic Assault
At 4:35 AM Saturday morning, an open 911 call was received from a residence in the 400 block 13th Street, during which disturbance could be heard. When members attended to investigate, it was learned that a 34 year-old male had assaulted his partner. He was arrested for the assault and held in custody, later being released on appropriate Police imposed conditions. He is to appear in court on October 28th to answer to one count of assault. The victim did not require medical attention.
Others
A total of 7 intoxicated people were brought into custody under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act or to prevent a breach of the peace from separate incidents at the Clarion Hotel. They will be released once sober.
