Theft Under $5000 / Breach of Release Order
New Charges: Theft Under $5000 / Breach of Release Order / Possession of Fentanyl
On August 15th a police officer noticed a wanted 28-year-old male in Aster Crescent. The male fled on his bike. After a brief foot chase, the male was arrested on an unendorsed warrant. A search of a backpack resulted in locating 2.08 grams of Fentanyl and two .22 rounds contrary to his previous Release conditions. The male was also a suspect in a theft that occurred on August 14th. The stolen item was found in his backpack. The male was arrested, charged accordingly, lodged, and will attend court this morning on August 16th, 2024.
Breach of Peace
On August 15th police were called to a business in the 700 block of 18th Street for a male that was outside causing a disturbance. Police attended and asked the male to leave however he refused to do so and instead tried to fight police. He was taken into custody and lodged to prevent further disturbance. He will be released when calm.
Arrest Warrants
On August 15th police attended Brandon Correction Centre to execute an unendorsed warrant to a 41-year-old female. Charge of Breach of Conditional Sentence Order.
On August 16th at 3:50AM police were called to Brandon hospital due to someone with a stab wound. The 30-year-old male stated he was in Cornell Bay when he was stabbed with what he thought was a kitchen knife. No further details provided. He was told to contact BPS if he wished to provide any further details. He did have an outstanding warrant for Breach of Probation which was executed, and he was released on an Appearance Notice. Court date set for October 24th, 2024.
Recovered Stolen Vehicle
On August 15th police received a report of a vehicle parked across the street from the Court House. The vehicle had been noted as stolen out of Neepawa on August 8th, 2024. Vehicle towed to BPS for further investigation.
Assault
On August 16th at 1:22AM police were called to a hotel in the 3500 block of Victoria Avenue as children had been left unattended in a hotel room. The matter was dealt with but while there a highly intoxicated man assaulted an employee in the hallway. Arrested and lodged until sober. Court date of October 7th, 2024.
