Police Media Release - August 12, 2024

Theft of Motor Vehicle

On August 11th at 6:14AM police were advised that a resident was missing their vehicle from the 800 block of Richmond Avenue. At 10:55AM police located a suspicious woman parked in the vehicle in the 100 block of Richmond Avenue East. A 26-year-old woman arrested, lodged and provided police a statement admitting to the theft. Released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of October 1st, 2024.

 

Failure to Comply with Release Order X5/Possession of Dangerous Weapon

On August 11th at 10:31AM police were dispatched to a business in the 600 block of 6th Street regarding an intoxicated male armed with a hammer. The 39-year-old male was found to be breaching Release Order conditions and arrested. He was lodged at BPS for court in the morning.

 

Failure to Comply Undertaking

On August 11th at 6:45PM police conducted a persons check in the 400 block of Princess Avenue with a 17-year-old female. She was intentionally breaching the curfew condition of her Undertaking. Charged with Failure to Comply Undertaking and released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of October 8th, 2024.

 

Theft Under $5000

On August 11th at 9:00PM police were called to a business in the 1000 block of Richmond Avenue where a male had stolen two boxes of burgers. The 44-year-old male suspect was located in the 1000 of 13th Street carrying the boxes. He was charged with Theft Under $5000 and has a court date set for October 21st, 2024.

 

Assault by Choking / Assault / Failure to Comply Release Order X2

On August 12th at 1:09AM there was a report of an assault. Police attended. A 43-year-old male had punched the 43-year-old female in the leg and then choked her. She was on a Release Order condition not to be within 200 meters of the residence however admitted to residing there since May. Both individuals were charged accordingly. The female will attend court in the morning on August 12th, 2024, while the male has a court date set for October 21st, 2024.

 

Domestic Assault

On August 12th at 2:10AM police received a call of a 23-year-old male assaulting his 22-year-old girlfriend at her residence in the 1000 block of 10th Street. The male was arrested and lodged until sober. He will be released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of October 21st, 2024.  

 

Break & Enter – Commercial

On August 12th at 3:13AM police received a report of a break and enter to a business in the 100 block of 18th Street. Two suspects, both dressed in black, stole nine folding knives, three glass bongs and lighters. One with a backpack with a Nike swoosh and red shoes, the other wore a red bandana on the face. If you have any information pertaining to this incident, please contact police. Police continue to investigate.

 

Assault X2 / Uttering Threats

On August 10th police received reports of a 26-year-old male assaulting his 25-year-old wife. On August 12th the male attended BPS and was formally charged with Assault X2 and Uttering Threats. Released on Appearance Notice with conditions and a court date of October 21st, 2024.

 

Trespass by Night / Possession of Break-in Instruments

On August 12th at 5:45AM police received a call of a suspicious person near Hazelwood Cr who appeared to be attempting to get into vehicles. Police attended and found the 35-year-old male who was in possession of bolt cutters. Charged with a court date of October 21st, 2024.

 

Warrant Arrests

On August 11th at 4:20PM police conducted a traffic stop in the 800 block of 18th Street. The driver was found to have a warrant of arrest for Failure to Attend Court. The 36-year-old female was arrested and lodged for court in the morning.

On August 11th at 1:10PM police conducted a persons check in the 800 block of Pacific Avenue. A 37-year-old female was arrested on the strength of a Failure to Attend Court warrant. She was later released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of September 9th, 2024.

On August 13th at 3:40AM a 17-year-old female turned herself in to BPS on the advice of her lawyers. It was confirmed she had 3 Warrants of Arrest – Failure to Attend Court X2 and Assault. She was lodged for court in the morning.
