Police News Release-May 18th, 2026

Possession of a Weapon x2 and Resist Arrest

 On May 18th at 9;10 a.m. BPS attended a business in the 1800 block of 1st Street North for a hang-up 911 call.  Police were met at the door by a 57-year-old male holding a bat who was non-cooperative with verbal direction and high on meth.  Male was arrested and lodged to be released when sober on an Undertaking to appear in court on July 2nd, 2026.

 

Possession of Cocaine

On May 18th at 2:25 a.m. Police conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of 18th Street.  A 34-year-old male passenger was found to be in possession of cocaine.  The male was lodged at BPS to be released sober on an Undertaking to appear in court on July 20th, 2026.

 

Arrest Warrants

In the past 24 hours a 30-year-old male was arrested in the 300 block of 6th Street on the strength of a Warrant for Arrest. The individual was held in custody to appear in court in the morning on May 18th.  Additionally, the male was found to be in possession of a concealed knife at the time of arrest and faces new weapon charges and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.  

 

Breach of the Peace / Protective Detention and Care of Intoxicated Persons Act

In the past 24 hours two individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace and three for Protective Detention and Care of Intoxicated Persons Act. All individuals were brought to Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells to be released once sober/calm.
