Flood Update - July 14

As of 7 a.m., the Assiniboine River level at 1st Street was 1179.20 feet, a slight decline from the peak.

While the river appears to have crested, levels, and flows will remain very high and the forecast could change quickly with any significant rain.

Residents are reminded to stay informed and continue exercising caution around flood protection infrastructure, riverbanks, and floodwaters. Even as water levels begin to recede, these areas can remain unstable and hazardous.

Did You Know?

Current river levels and flows do not always match those seen during previous major flood events. Several factors can influence how the river behaves, including:

    •    Changes to the river channel's width and depth caused by erosion from past high-water events

    •    New or enhanced flood mitigation infrastructure that has been built over time

The City of Brandon continues to use provincial flow forecasts to guide all flood planning, preparedness, and response efforts.

Thank you to residents for your continued patience, cooperation, and attention to safety as we monitor conditions closely. We will continue to provide updates as conditions change.
