City of Brandon Monitoring Heavy Rainfall and Localized Flooding Impacts

Brandon, MB – The City of Brandon is actively monitoring conditions following a significant amount of rainfall in a short period of time, which has led to localized overland flooding in some areas of the community.

City crews are responding as needed and continue to assess conditions across the city to help keep residents safe and services operating.

As part of these proactive efforts, heavy equipment has been staged near Grand Valley Road to ensure crews are prepared should a road closure be required due to potential flooding associated with increased Assiniboine River flows. At this time, no road closure is in place.

Residents are reminded to use caution when travelling and to avoid driving through areas with standing water or overland flooding. Even shallow water can be deeper than it appears and may conceal hazards.

Due to overland flooding in some areas, Brandon Transit is currently operating on detoured routes to ensure the safety of passengers and staff. While transit service remains available, riders may experience delays and temporary route adjustments as drivers navigate around affected areas.

If a regular bus stop is inaccessible due to flooding, riders are encouraged to assess conditions safely and use an alternative nearby stop where possible.

Residents experiencing flooding concerns requiring attention from City crews are encouraged to contact the City of Brandon at 204-729-2285.

The City asks residents to slow down and give crews space to work safely. For the latest updates, residents are encouraged to follow the City of Brandon’s official social media channels.
