Transit Master Plan
Council advanced the approval process for the Transit Master Plan, a long-term strategy to enhance transit services for future generations. Key features to be phased in include:
- Transition from the current hub-and-spoke model to three exchange locations (current location downtown; Corral Centre; and Shoppers Mall)
- Transit service on Braecrest Drive
- Direct, faster, bi-directional service along 18th St
- Increased evening frequency
A final report will be presented to City Council and enable Brandon Transit to move forward with budgeting and plans for the coming years.
Downtown Washroom and Transit Information Centre
Council has approved City administration to proceed with a lease agreement to relocate the Transit Information Centre to a facility near the downtown exchange.
The current building at 21- 8th St, which houses the existing Transit Information Centre, has been identified as a potential site for redevelopment as a downtown washroom, owing to its deteriorating condition.
The updated project cost for the downtown washroom at will be forwarded for consideration during the 2026 capital budget deliberations.
35M Monopole Communication Tower – 1009 34th Street
Council received presentations from residents and the proponent, Shared Tower, regarding the proposed installation of a 35-metre monopole communication tower at 1009 – 34th Street. The planned structure is intended to accommodate co-location for up to three service providers.
Following significant public consultation, consideration of community concerns about the site, City Council issued a letter of non-concurrence for the location of the proposed tower.
Indemnity By-law Review
City Administration will assess the compensation structure for council members by conducting a market analysis of similar municipalities, as well as evaluating potential adjustments to salaries, benefits, and expenses.
Any changes to the Indemnity By-law will be presented to Council for review by the end of February 2026 and would go into effect for the incoming 2026 – 2030 Council term.
2026 City Council Appointments and Meeting Schedules
City Council approved appointments for Deputy Mayor and Acting Deputy Mayor, Council committees, and other committees and boards. All terms will expire on Oct. 28, 2026, coinciding with the municipal election scheduled for that date.
Additionally, Council approved the 2026 meeting schedule and budget timelines. The 2026 budget deliberations are planned for Jan. 30 - 31, 2026. The public hearing and adoption of the 2026 Financial Plan, along with the first reading of the 2026 Tax Levy By-law, will take place in April 2026.
The next scheduled City Council meeting will be held on Mon, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m.
