City Council Meeting Highlights - March 3, 2025
Brandon City Council held its regular meeting on March 3, 2025. In addition to community comments and feedback, along with updates from Council Committee reports, the following key discussions and decisions included:
- Council held a public hearing on By-Law No. 7411 to borrow funds for the purpose of purchasing and retrofitting a police operations centre. The By-Law was read for first time and now goes to the Manitoba Municipal Board for approval prior to the second and third reading of the By-Law. View the full report here.
- Council received a report on the physician recruitment program from Economic Development Brandon and the Prairie Mountain Health Region. As part of the 2025 budget deliberations, Council allocated $50,000 to further support physician recruitment efforts. View the full report here.
- Council approved a subdivision application to allow for the consolidation of the loading dock area currently within 800 Rosser Ave (the Town Centre) to become part of 710 Rosser Ave (Brandon Public Library and the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba). View the full report here.
- Council received the 2025 Utility Rate Adequacy Report which provides an overview of the water and wastewater utility rates for 2025. This annual review will be submitted to the Public Utilities Board of Manitoba. View the full report here.
- Council approved By-Law No. 7392 to officially adopt the Brandon City Plan. View the full report here.
- The third reading of the Development Charge By-Law No. 7175 was deferred to a future City Council meeting. View the full report here.
- By-Law No. 7415 to rezone 201 - 6th Street North and Area was read for a first time. View the full report here.
- Council approved By-Law No. 7417 to amend street names in the Oakridge Estates Neighbourhood. View the full report here.
