City Council Meeting Highlights - February 3, 2025

Brandon City Council held its regular meeting on February 3, 2025. In addition to community comments and feedback, along with updates from Council Committee reports, the following key discussions and decisions included:

  • Council approved the updated concept plan to enhance the development of the Oakridge Estates neighbourhood.
  • An application to the Housing, Infrastructure, and Communities Canada Active Transportation Fund was supported for submission. If successful, this federal grant may fund up to 60% of active transportation improvements.
  • Several subdivision applications were approved, including: an application to subdivide 15-5th St. N., an amendment to the application to subdivide 2728 Victoria Ave., and a request to subdivide part of 1910 Bell Ave.
  • The third reading of the Development Charge By-Law No. 7175 was deferred to the regular Council meeting on March 3, 2025.
  • City Council approved a By-Law to rezone part of 1910 Bell Ave. to enable the development of a building that combines 112 seniors’ co-op housing units, a seniors community centre, and a daycare facility, as well as to set aside land for a public park.
  • City Council also approved the rezoning application at 401 College Ave. and 750 5th St. for the development of 96 dwelling units.
