Brandon Police - Special News Release
Brandon Police Service Major Crimes Section (MCS) has concluded an investigation into the recent rash of armed robberies that have occurred in Brandon and Souris in November of 2025. This investigation was aided by the assistance of the Patrol Section, Organized Crime Section, and RCMP.
On November 20th, 2025, at 0906hrs police received report of another armed robbery at a business in the 4100 block of Victoria Avenue. The suspect had entered the store wearing a mask and brandishing a handgun. The suspect demanded cash and cigarettes from the store clerk and then fled on a bicycle. Police subsequently located the suspect at an address on Canada Crescent shortly after the robbery where he was taken into custody without further incident.
MCS had established that this suspect was responsible for seven total armed robberies that had occurred on:
- November 7th, 2025, at a business in the 800 block of 18th Street in Brandon. The suspect brandished a knife and robbed the business of cash.
- November 8th, 2025, at a business in the 800 block of 18th Street in Brandon. The suspect brandished a knife and robbed the business of cash.
- November 9th, 2025, at a business in the 1200 block of Richmond Avenue in Brandon. The suspect brandished a firearm and robbed the business of cash.
- November 10th, 2025, at a business in Souris. The suspect brandished a firearm and robbed the business of cash and cigarettes.
- November 14th, 2025, at a business in the 2400 block of Victoria Avenue in Brandon. The suspect brandished a firearm and robbed the business of cash and cigarettes.
- November 19th, 2025, at a business in the 2500 block of Victoria Avenue in Brandon. The suspect brandished a firearm and robbed the business of cash and cigarettes.
- November 20th, 2025, at a business in the 4100 block of Victoria Avenue in Brandon. The suspect brandished a firearm and robbed the business of cash and lighters.
Over the course of November, the BPS MCS continued the investigation into the robberies which led to the identification of the suspect as a 39-year-old male from rural Brandon.
After the apprehension of the suspect on November 20th, 2025, MCS executed three search warrants on a residence on Canada Crescent, a residence in the 2200 block of Brandon Avenue, and a property in rural Brandon. A fourth search warrant was executed on the suspect’s vehicle.
As a result of the search warrants MCS recovered clothing items worn by the suspect during the robberies along with a replica handgun used in the commission of the offences, multiple tills belonging to the affected businesses, and stolen cigarettes.
The 39-year-old male was on parole at the time of the incident and as a result a parole revocation warrant was also executed on him while in custody at the Brandon Police Service. The accused appeared in Court this morning and was remanded into custody on 34 new charges of Armed Robbery, Disguise with Intent, Robbery with Firearm, Pointing a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order. The accused is next scheduled to appear in Court on December 2nd, 2025.
