WHY ARE YOU RUNNING FOR SCHOOL TRUSTEE?

I believe in this community, and that children, are the future of our community.

I attended school here in Brandon, from elementary up to graduation.

I have worked in the insurance industry for 37 years, presently as manager of an insurance brokerage, and previously for insurance companies, working in a supervisorial role marketing, loss prevention, claims, and underwriting.

My wife was born and raised here in Brandon; previously employed as an EA and lunch room supervisor for 10 years with BSD.

Our kids were born and raised here; our daughter is now a Vice Principal in the USA.

There appear to be some issues facing BSD, with the influx of new people to the city, it seems there are not enough classrooms, or enough teachers / staff.

The safety of children is paramount, providing proper lunch programs, and engaging with parent councils, and the public at large is important.

If BSD provides a safe, stable, inclusive education system, with opportunities, it will give children the necessary tools to look at pursuing a post-secondary education and give them the confidence to enter the work world strengthening our community.

I look to bring a new, hopeful, productive prospective, to the BSD board.
