WHY ARE YOU RUNNING FOR SCHOOL TRUSTEE?

After more than a decade of volunteering and advocating in Brandon schools, I am running for School Board Trustee to give back to the community that has given so much to my family.  I’ve been on parent council over 10 years, 7 of those as chair, working closely with teachers, staff and families from early years through to high school.  As both a working and one-time stay-at-home parent and as a parent of a child with extra needs, I’ve seen how different situations affect students.  I want every student to feel included, supported and able to thrive. 

Beyond my own children, I am working to help bring Canadian Parents for French back to Brandon to support families in French programming. Over the last 2 years, I have attended most trustee board meetings, so I understand the current issues and can step into the trustee role confidently.  I believe strong schools are built on inclusion, open communication and shared voices, and I’ll do my best to be a trustee who listens and advocates for all.
