Police News Release - September 16th, 2026

Breach of the Peace
In the past 24 hours one individual was arrested for Breach of the Peace and held in Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells. They will be released once sober.
Robbery/ Breach of Probation / Utter Threats
On September 14th a male attended a store in the 1600 block of 18th Street and stole merchandise valued at $20.00. When confronted by staff, he displayed a knife and threatened to stab the employee. The male then left on a bike with the knife tucked into his sock. The male was identified by video surveillance. Extensive patrols were made with negative results. Police located the 36-year-old male the following day on September 15th in the 700 block of 10th Street. He was arrested, brought to BPS detention cells, and was held for court.
Arrest Warrants
Over the past 24 hours, five individuals were arrested on their outstanding Warrants for Arrest. Two were arrested and later released via Appearance Notices/Undertakings with future court dates. Three were held for court.
Theft Under $5000
On September 15th at 10:29 a.m., a police officer observed a female running from a store in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue. When confronted, the intoxicated female admitted to stealing from the store. The female was arrested and brought to BPS detention cells. Once sober, she will be released via Undertaking with a future court date of November 26th, 2026.
Theft Under $5000
On September 15th at 2:58 p.m. a female stole two cases of Twisted Teas from a vendor in the 000 block of 10th Street. A description was provided of the female, and she was soon located by police at 9th Street and Pacific handing out cans of Twisted Teas to her friends. The female was arrested and later released with a future court date of November 23rd, 2026.
Mischief Under $5000
On September 16th at 1:55 a.m., Brandon police responded to a report of a disturbance involving a taxi driver outside a business in the 000 block of 10th Street.
Police learned a group of individuals had reportedly attempted to fight with the taxi driver. When officers arrived, the taxi was still parked outside the business with fresh damage to the driver's side mirror and the driver's side door handle, which had been broken off. There was video footage of the incident and a 42-year-old female who was involved was located nearby and arrested. She was brought to BPS detention cells and will be released once sober on an Undertaking with a court appearance scheduled for October 22nd, 2026.
Theft / Mischief = Still Under Investigation
On September 16th at 5:03 a.m., BPS responded to a report of a break, enter and theft at a hotel beer vendor in the 200 block of 18th Street North. An employee reported that two masked suspects smashed the glass in the front door, entered the vendor, and each stole two cases of beer before fleeing the scene. The pair is believed to have headed south. Police cleared the business upon arrival, but the suspects were no longer on scene or in the area. Investigators have requested additional video footage, and the incident remains under investigation.
