Police News Release - Sept 25th, 2026

Theft of Vehicle / Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
On September 24th at 3:14 p.m., Brandon Police Service (BPS) received a report of a stolen white Dodge Journey. Prior to the report being received, an officer had observed a known to him male operating a vehicle matching the description of the stolen Dodge Journey. The vehicle's keys reportedly contained an AirTag; however, the AirTag was later located after it had been discarded. Officers located the stolen vehicle in the 1300 block of 7th Street, near the home of the male the officer had identified. The keys were recovered from the male’s bedroom. The vehicle was towed to Brandon Police Service, and the registered owner was notified. A 42-year-old male and a 35-year-old female were arrested in relation to the incident. Both were brought to BPS detention cells to appear in court on September 25th, 2026.
Arrest Warrant
On September 25th at 1:23 a.m. a persons check was conducted on a male in the 100 block of 5th Street. The 27-year-old male was arrested on his Warrant for Arrest (Theft Under $5000). He was later released via Undertaking with a future court date of October 26th, 2026.
Street Robbery
On September 24th at 11:54 p.m., BPS received a report of a robbery in the area of Southern Avenue and 1st Street. The victim reported that he had arranged to meet an unknown individual to sell personal items when he was robbed. The suspect was described as a male wearing a black Nike tracksuit and a black ski mask, and was armed with bear spray. During the incident, the suspect attempted to spray the victim with bear spray; however, the wind caused the spray to miss the victim and contaminate the suspect instead. The suspect fled westbound from the area with the victim's belt, a Louis Vuitton side bag containing a bank card, and ID. An investigation and track ensued, but the suspect was not located. The investigation is ongoing. Failure to Comply Undertaking
On September 25th at 12:29 a.m. a vehicle stop was conducted in the 700 block of Rosser Avenue. A 33-year-old female passenger is to abide by a daily curfew in Long Plains First Nation of which she was breaching. The female was arrested and brought to BPS detention cells to appear in court on September 25th, 2026.
Protective Detention & Care of Intoxicated Persons
On September 25th at 3:43 a.m. police responded to a report of a female at the caller’s door in the 300 block of Douglas Street. It was reported that she appeared to be hallucinating, stating things that were unfounded. For the intoxicated female’s wellbeing, she was brought to BPS and will be released once sober.
Theft Under $5000
On September 16th police received a complaint about a theft of merchandise from a store in the 3500 block of Victoria Avenue. The value of theft was $60.00. Surveillance assisted police in identifying the suspect.
On September 23rd an additional theft of $22 was received from a store in Corral Centre. Police attended and it was the same suspect.
On September 24th the 28-year-old male suspect was located by police and held for court in the morning on September 25th, 2026.
Breach of Probation Warrant / Assault with a Weapon / Resist Arrest
On September 24th at 6:34 p.m., BPS responded to a disturbance at a business in the 1100 block of 18th Street after receiving a report that a male had stabbed a female with a needle. The female was transported to hospital by ambulance for non-life-threatening medical treatment. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. At 6:57 p.m., a BPS officer observed the suspect running into a residence on Creighton Boulevard. As officers responded, the 38-year-old male made numerous concerning statements. Following extended negotiations with officers, the male eventually exited the residence and was taken into custody just before midnight. An unsecured rifle was seized as part of the investigation which the Major Crimes Unit will follow up on. (The male had an endorsed Warrant for Arrest for Failing to Comply with Probation after failing to report as required by a court order between July 16 and July 29, 2026.) The male remained in custody for court on the morning of September 25th, 2026.
