Police News Release - October 6th, 2026

Arrest Warrant

In the past 24 hours two individuals were arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest. Both were held at Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells and will attend court in the morning on October 6th, 2026.

 

Utter Threats to Cause Death / Resist / Assault Peace Officer / Possession of Weapon

On October 5th, 2026, Brandon Police Service was notified that a male was communicating with a Brandon business’s contact centre through a mobile app and making serious threats toward the business and its employees. As a precaution, the business’s Brandon locations were closed early while police investigated. The investigation was leading officers to a residence south of Brandon, where the suspect was located travelling in a vehicle. Police conducted a traffic stop, and the roads were temporarily blocked while officers dealt with the situation. The 32-year-old male resisted arrest and kicked an officer in the shin. He was taken into custody and transported to the BPS detention cells to appear in court on October 6th, 2026. A knife was located inside the vehicle, along with a sheath on the floor.

The father of the male, who had arrived separately, initially remained calm and attempted to assist officers in convincing his son to exit the vehicle. His behaviour later escalated, and he was arrested and charged with Obstructing Justice. He was released by way of an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear in court on December 14th, 2026.

 

Protective Detention & Care of Intoxicated Persons Act

On October 5th at 4:48 p.m. Cadets came upon a highly intoxicated female in the 600 block of Rosser Avenue. The woman was unable to care for herself. She was brought by police to BPS detention cells to be released once sober.
