Police News Release - October 5th, 2026

Breach of the Peace
In the past 24 hours one individual was arrested for Breach of the Peace and held in Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells. The 28-year-old male will be released once sober.
Protective Detention & Care of Intoxicated Persons Act
In the past 24 hours one individual was arrested for PDCIPA and held in BPS detention cells. The 25-year-old male will be released once sober.
Sexual Assault
On September 9th a female attended BPS and stated that her partner has been abusing her and sexually assaulting her for 12 years. Statements were obtained from her and family. On October 4th the 42-year-old male was located by police and arrested. The male was interviewed and held for court.
Theft Under $5000
On October 4th BPS received a report of a shoplifting incident from a business in the 3400 block of Victoria Avenue. Video surveillance was reviewed, which showed that on September 16th at approximately 9:07 p.m., a male suspect stole approximately $170 worth of meat and a fruit tray. The 40-year-old suspect was identified through the video surveillance. He was currently remanded at the Brandon Correctional Centre (BCC).
A BPS member attended BCC and arrested the male in relation to the theft. He remained in custody at BCC and is scheduled to appear in court on October 5th, 2026.
Assault
On October 4th at 7:18 p.m., BPS members were dispatched to the skate park for a report of a 59-year-old male assaulting several people. Police located the intoxicated male suspect and determined that he had punched several individuals. Neither of the individuals involved wished to provide a statement; however, a female sustained a cut to her face as a result of the incident. The male was arrested and will be released on an Undertaking once sober, with a future court date.
Assault
On October 4th at 8:25 p.m., BPS members were dispatched to the 600 block of 11th Street for a report of an assault. Police determined that during an argument, a 31-year-old female punched a 46-year-old male in the face, twice. The female was located a short distance from the residence and arrested. She was later released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on November 16th, 2026.
Arrest Warrant / Failure to Comply Release Order x2
On October 5th at 2:05 a.m. police were called to a residence in the 100 block of Louise Avenue for unrelated issues. It was noted that a 26-year-old male, who was outside the residence, had a Warrant of Committal out of Moose Lake. The male was also bound by a 24-hour curfew and not to consume clause on his Release Order. The male was arrested and held in BPS detention cells for court in the morning on October 5th, 2026.
