Police News Release - May 14th, 2026

Breach of the Peace
On May 13th at 8:57 a.m. police were called to a business in the 300 block of 9th Street where an intoxicated 46-year-old male, who was barred from the premises, was refusing to leave. Officers attended and located the male. He was arrested for Breach of the Peace and brought to Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells to be released once sober/calm.
Arrest Warrants
In the past 24 hours three individuals were arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest. Two were released with future court dates and one was held for court in the morning on May 14th, 2026.
Mischief to Property Under $5000
On May 13th at 2:45 p.m., police received a call from a resident in the 1400 block of Pacific Avenue reporting that his brother was attempting to break into his apartment and had thrown a brick at his vehicle. Officers attended the scene and confirmed damage to the vehicle. A 30-year-old male was arrested for Mischief and held in BPS detention cells. He would later be released on an Undertaking once sober. A court date has been scheduled for July 23rd, 2026.
Failure to Comply Release Order / Theft Under $5000
On May 8th, a taxi driver reported to BPS that his wallet had been stolen while transporting a male passenger. Through investigation, a 51-year-old male was identified as the suspect. Initial attempts to locate the male were unsuccessful.
On May 13th at approximately 10:50 p.m., a BPS officer observed the suspect making a purchase in the 3400 block of Victoria Avenue. The suspect’s vehicle was subsequently stopped, and officers determined he was breaching a court-ordered curfew of 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The male was arrested and charged in relation to the theft and curfew breach. He was held in BPS detention cells to appear in court on the morning of May 14th, 2026.
