Police News Release - June 4th, 2026

Carry Concealed Weapon x2 / Possess Weapon x2

On June 3rd at 6:01 a.m. a complainant reported two individuals going through the back lane dumpsters in the 400 block of 12th Street. Upon police arrival to move the suspects along one of the males was noted to have a large bulge in his front sweater pocket. Upon a safety search a knife sheath was located holding two knives. The male was arrested and taken into custody without incident. He was later released via Undertaking with a future court date of August 13th, 2026.

 

Resist / Obstruct / Weapons Charges

On June 3rd, 2026, at 12:25 p.m., police located a 16-year-old male in the 900 block of Rosser Avenue who was wanted on an outstanding Youth Drug Stabilization Act Warrant. When the officer attempted to arrest him, the male fled on foot southbound on 9th Street into the Town Centre parkade and building. During the pursuit, he was observed discarding a knife, which was later recovered. The male was subsequently arrested without further incident.

The male was charged with Resist Arrest, Possession of a Weapon, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and Obstruct Peace Officer. He was brought to Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells and will appear in court in the morning on June 4th, 2026.

 

Arrest Warrant

On June 3rd at 12:40 p.m. officers conducted a stop with a female in the 700 block of Princess Avenue with a 15-year-old female. The female had an Unendorsed as well as Endorsed Warrant for Arrest. She was arrested, brought to BPS detention cells, and will attend court in the morning on June 4th, 2026.

 

Additional Charges for Male at Brandon Correctional Centre

Following an investigation into an incident that occurred on April 8th, 2026, and subsequent Crown Opinion, charges were authorized against a 23-year-old male.

The accused was already in custody at Brandon Correctional Centre (BCC) and was to appear in court on the morning of June 4th, 2026. Members attended the correctional centre, arrested the male, and charged him with two counts of Uttering Threats and two counts of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. He would appear in court on the new charges on Thursday, June 4th, 2026. He remained in BCC custody.

 

Breach of the Peace / Protective Detention & Care of Intoxicated Persons Act

In the past 24 hours, three individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace, while an additional two individuals, who were highly intoxicated, were taken into custody under the Protective Detention & Care of Intoxicated Persons Act (PDCIPA). All individuals will be released once sober.

 

Single Vehicle Collision

On June 4th, 2026, at 12:32 a.m., police responded to a single-vehicle rollover in the 300 block of Park Avenue East. Witnesses reported the vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed and attempted to pass their vehicle prior to leaving the roadway, entering the ditch, and rolling several times. Another witness reported observing the vehicle proceed through a red light shortly before the collision. A 25-year-old male driver was extricated from the vehicle by Brandon Fire & Emergency Services and transported to hospital by ambulance. Blood samples were obtained as part of the investigation. Police are awaiting the results of the analysis before determining the next course of action. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The driver was not the registered owner of the vehicle. The registered owner, a 20-year-old male, later attended Brandon Police Service. The extent of the driver's injuries is unknown at this time. The investigation continues.

 

Assault with Weapon Investigation

On May 30th, 2026, at approximately 5:02 a.m., police responded to a 911 call reporting an injured male in the 200 block of 3rd Street. Officers located a 46-year-old male suffering from a significant head injury believed to have been caused by a machete. He was transported to Brandon Regional Health Centre by ambulance for treatment of the non-life-threatening injury. 

The victim reported being attacked from behind while outside a residence in the 100 block of 4th Street with a friend. The victim was unable to identify the suspect. The 22-year-old male acquaintance who was present at the time of the incident declined to provide a statement or further information to investigators.

Police conducted an extensive investigation, including a Police Service Dog track from the location where the victim was found. The track led officers to a residence in the 100 block of 4th Street, where blood was observed in the yard and near the rear entrance. Five individuals, including the 22-year-old acquaintance, were detained from the residence. All detained suspects were later released once sober. 

Despite these efforts, investigators were unable to obtain information from the victim or witnesses that would assist in identifying a suspect. As all investigative avenues have been exhausted with the information available, the file has been closed.
