Police News Release - June 21st, 2026

Stabbing

In the past 24 hours police responded to a report of multiple people stabbed in a residence. Upon arrival three people were suffering injuries consistent with being struck with a bladed weapon including the suspect who was apprehended a short distance from the scene. All three were brought for medical treatment, the accused was then lodged at BPS, and is held in custody for court. 

 

Armed Robbery

In the past 24 hours police responded to a report of a robbery in downtown Brandon. A male approached a couple brandishing a can of bear spray and demanding a necklace from the victim. The suspect was able to pull the necklace off the victim’s neck then left the area. The suspect was apprehended a few blocks away a short time later, was lodged at BPS for a court appearance.

 

Weapon possession

In the past 24 hours a male was checked in downtown Brandon after acting suspiciously when seeing police. He was checked and found to be concealing a can of bear mace while on conditions not to possess any weapon. This male was held at BPS for court.

 

Arrest Warrant

In the past 24 hours three individuals were arrested on the strength of their Warrants for Arrest.  The two were released with scheduled Court dates in July and one was held for court.

 

Breach of Peace

In the last 24 hours seven people were lodged in the Brandon Police Service for Breach of Peace. They were arrested and held in BPS detention cells to be released in the morning.  

 

Protective Detention and Care of Intoxicated Persons Act

In the past 24 hours one individual was held in the BPS cells under the PDCIPA
